Having just sold my nash SS3 wide all season I'm now looking at buying a new bed setup having trawled through most of the previous threads on here I see equally as many people prefer the sleep systems as those that prefer a separate bedchair and sleeping bag. I found I found my SS3 wide too heavy, bulky and a pain to get in and out of an average sized estate car I also didn't find it all that comfortable. So now I'm trying to decide whether to go for another sleep system or get a separate bedchair and sleeping bag. I'm 5'11” and approx 18st so what I choose will have to be supportive but I don't want it to weigh a tonne as I've had before. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated

Beds are very personal things, you can get all the advice you want but it may be of little help to you. What is comfortable for one, is awful for another. I won't go back to a seperate bed and bag as I far prefer the system, I find it more comfortable and with the layers they have find them very adaptable for the different seasons. Others are the complete opposite. So the best thing you can do is get to a shop, try some out and decide what works for you

I do agree we all sleep different ways and some like a form mattress others prefer to sink into one I've asked around a few tackle shops and the general consensus is that very one that got back me recommended the Solar SP C tech sleep system but I read in here and they said they hated theirs but saying that it was just one person most say it's a brilliant setup and the best you can get

I use the standard width Nash system, it works perfectly for me. I tried the wide version and hated the thing, wasn't anywhere near as comfortable for me. The solar one gets a lot of good reviews and I've had a quick lay on one and it did feel very comfy. But as the Nash ones have been perfect for me, I'll definitely be looking at theirs when mine is due for renewal.

What do you think makes the wide ones less comfortable than the standards? I have the wide it does take up a lot more room in a spider compact aswell I got almost as much as what I paid for it a year ago so can't complain

Im one who hated my Nash sleep system I found it far too restrictive best thing I ever did was quickly sell it
I far and away prefer the versatility of a separate bed and choice of bag or bedchair cover or both as I suffer from claustrophobia I can never have the door down unless it rain driving in then it can come down but no zips
and of course can never have the bag zip up and so the sleep system always had a big gap
my bed now is the Solar CH08 and only slept on it for 2 nights so far but its superb

So this Solar CH08 bedchair is it a bit like the SP C tech without all the bells and whistles?

Its an individual preference buit like many others Ive had sleep systems lots of them and beds over the years Ive found them too restrictive and gone back to bed and seperate bag the solar sp ctech and snugpak bag my combo of choice

Ive currently got the Sp c tech max standard and wide
Trakker ELS standard and wide
Scope 4 fold Sleep system - ok for carrying and pack down sizer but no longer used and kids use it for camping


And in the past Ive had every version of the nash indulgence ss released but wouldnt go back

the difference is the mattress is 3d and the CHO8 is 2d so slightly less padding size I think is the same
tackle tarts got CH08 on sale £169

.....size is 205cm x 80cm but I love it for the max 50cm height that helps me get on and off it with my spinal injury's

Bed & bag for me, I like my carinthia sleeping bags so it's an easy choice to make

Any long term reviews on the Gardner duvet compact. Torn between that and the trakker 365 , wouldn't mind it being slightly lighter but if the trakker is a better bag so be it.

Using the ch08 bed and it's been superb last 12 months. My cyprinus magnatex has finally given up

Think I'm gunna go for the Solar CH08 bed now then pick a sleeping bag to go on it. Only thing to consider for me is the width as I'm quite a big bloke but don't want the extra weight of wide bed

Of those two bags the trakker 365 is the better bag. If cost is not a major issue.

No don't mind paying for either. Do like the tech lite but I'm heavy handed and ruin bags and don't think it would last me 2 years
