they are hard to come by, are available in small quantities in dribs and drabs, mine were ordered in September, delivered last week.👌

Sarcastic yes, but is any carp reel worth the best part of 2k for a set of three, OK if your minted.

It's one of those things Goose; if you've got the money and are not skinting yourself out to buy them, go for it.
In the scheme of things, you're probably right. 2k plus is a hell of a lot of money to spend on a set of reels. I've got 4 of the previous version that ended up costing over 2k. I'm not minted by a long chalk, not a bragger or a look at me type, quite the opposite. I'd fished for years with borrowed rods with rings held on by electrical tape - nightmare when it rained - now i'm in a position to spend my hard earned as I like and wanted to get a set of reels that are super smooth, ultra light and will last me ages...hopefully.
There's anglers that pay out large amounts of money for rods that Edward Barder makes for instance, I personally wouldn't shell out the type of money his kit sells for, plus its old farts kit...split cane, woot?
I've had a play about with Shimano's reel that's one behind the Tech, and for the money, it is a very good reel, the differences between the two are not that great and will see most proud.

Apples and oranges but look at the sea fishing world. Some of those fixed spoolers are priced to kill the wallet. A set of Dogfights perhaps?

Those saltigas are designed for catching sailfish and tuna so they need to be bomb proof so the expense is kind of justified as thats a rich mans game so they all have loads of money anyway. We dont need all these 2k fancy reels to catch a slow plodding fat carp but they are still nice to own.
