Very simple mixes, but with robin red not being what it was I'd be inclined to use paprika instead plus it would make it a lot more economical from a financial point of view.

Baitworks Monster Red... You can buy the basemix in 5kg batches? Could be worth a call to see if there is a discount for larger amounts maybe?
Just a thought if you didn't want to source the separate ingredients as Peter has suggested?

They had to take the Red dye out of it because of a change in regulations. Whether the dye in itself was a major part of the attraction is open to debate. A lot of people say it's not what it was back in the day.
Personally I doubt it's now worth what they charge for it. Indeed if it ever was .

Have a look at the kingfisher version. Certainly stains your hands like the original. I used this in a bait I made with great effect.
But agree paprika is also very good on its own.

It contained cantaxanthin.
Carophyll red is a brand of that, use another source and then it's true it “doesn't” contain it.
Inarguably in every tank test I've done paprika be it sweet, hot or smoked has outperformed RR or KR in terms of getting a positive response from fish, although interestingly all 3 variants have in my experience different optimal inclusion rates, when it comes to colour, if you want a bait more red, I'd suggest a bit of insoluble pigment. That is if it's inclusion is literally to colour

paprika and brown sugar.. there's not alot going for it in terms of functions. if I were you then I would just use paprika simply to cut the cost as stated.

There is one or two attractive compounds in its make up but I don't use it anymore, the cost doesn't justify it when there is superior products cheaper. its my personal opinion only of course.
it colours, adds a bit of oil etc
