I have a set of 2.5 Tc Torrix I did pair them with a set of ss2600 and 12lb line easily put a 2 Oz lead 100 plus yards small PVA bags to around 60 yards. Great in many ways had a few upper 20s and a thirty superb fun to play fish on. Took me 40 minutes to land a 25lb Mirror most recently stood waste deep in waders. I use a set of Daiwa Linear X with mine which I'll move on and they are glorious with my ISOs such a superb match

I've just sold a set.
Nice rods, cast 3oz fine.
90/100m okay. I've had some big fish on them.
I'm now barbel fishing/ river carping and they are too stiff in the butt section (for me) for that job.

I prefer the 2.5 to the 2.75, Made a set of 2.5 with 25ml butt ring for a bloke who is hitting crazy distances with 3 oz leads . Much nicer action on the 2.5 in my opinion.whichever you get do not get stupid big guides on them.

I have opportunity to buy 12ft 2,75lb in burgundy color and make custom edition with cork handles and guides 40mm>12mm (6+1) OR
Harrison ballista 11ft 3lb with same color and cork handles with guides 30mm to 10mm tip (6+1)
Ballista is better player rod but Torrix have better backbone for bigger ffish so I'm in dilema few days

Glad you feel that way, only my opinion but I loved my custom 2lb tc and 2.5tc which were custom builds with small single leg guides except the but ring. Had the 2.75tc but got rid soon and the mate that bought them didn't like them either, the only torrix above the 2.5tc I would have is the 12ft6in te in a custom build.

You dont need a stiffer rod with a more powerful butt section to land big carp. You have more chance of landing it with the softer through actioned rod. Fast actioned rods are solely for hitting bigger distances, you dont need them to land bigger fish.

Yeah yeah. Next you'll be telling us people land 200lb tarpon on fly rods with tips of about 1lb tc

I know that rod TC is not main criteria to land big fish
I have Prologic C3 RAS in 2,75lb option-Full parabolic action and pulled out river carp (13-14kilo) and fight was mental.
But sometimes I need extra power to stop fish so I take Torrix in my mind. There is no need for big casting distance and in that direction I consider these two rods.
For me, they are top products with great potential in custom made option and that burgundy color with cork handle looks stunning

Im not a fan of painted blanks they scratch and mark far too easily but if i had the choice i would take the Ballista (which is the baby ballista) over the torrix 2.75 tc every time.

A rod that compresses with a through action exerts stopping power. The ballista is just that. I'd pick them over a torrix any day of the week
