Would braid munch these guides up does anyone know?

I've used the 9ft 3lb scopes for boat work for the last year or so and they have been fine. 0.35 braid dragging big weed beds in and the rings don't have a mark. Same goes for chucking them in and out of the boat, they haven't been a problem.

I'm all a bit confused with this Minima name. I see mentioned PacBay Minima and just Minima in respect of the Scopes. I did come across a few mentions about lines cutting into the Minima guides.

Minima guides are made by pac bay, American tackle and sea guide I imagine make an equivalent
It's just a thin gauge frame with a thin steel lining, light to medium duty really and possible to groove, I've done it.. but you'd have to be pretty prolific to do it carp fishing.

You saying that, it puts me right off of them. I'll be using them on a very weedy big pit. I prefer to use mono, though braid does seem appealing and may be inclined to use the stuff. Some of the underwater features are quite nasty, also as I've seen people go on about braids ability to cut through weed is worth a shout.
I'm torn between having the guy at Chiltern knock me up a set o rods whereby I can choose a set of rings as apposed to buying a Scope off the shelf. What guides would you recommend Noj?

I've got minima's on 3 sets of Hi s from 3lbs to H ives & only use braid the H ives are 7 yrs old & the guides are still perfect ! Only thing I would say is go for a decent tip ring I've got fujis on mine the minima tip rings are pretty flimsy IMO

I dont fit minima guides on my carp rods found them to bend very easily , saying that lots of people use them and like them as said dont use a minima tip ring.kigan or fuji.

Have minimas on 3 sets of rods. The smaller 10 footers I've used on all manor of waters, from Cassien to 2 acre top to bottom weed waters, not had one groove. My original Cotswold r1's have had them on for over ten years now and they haven't at all changed from the day I got them. Wouldn't say they are faultless, but are very durable and lightweight. As as been said before, the tip rings are not the one, go kigan or at delta.

To be fair minimas are probably equal to and suit those retractable rods. Anything with a ceramic liner that isn't 30mm and down makes them feel awful too.
I'd go for a dwarf or sonik and just use them to destruction or If you're talking a custom 2 piece blank then (25 or 30mm) kw guides reducing (x3) to 8 & 10mm kt (x4 or 5) on the tip.
I probably had about 1000km of braid and fly line groove mine at 100mph, they probably won't do that before the telescopic section of the rod wears out in normal use

The scopes with minimas will honestly be fine mate. Im fishing a 70 acre pit that's chocca with weed and towing 200 yards over it then dragging back through it. The braid has done nothing at all to the guides. I've no idea what tip ring the scopes have but it's no more flimsy than any other I've seen.
The rod geeks can be as bad as the bait geeks with their rules about rings and spacing and all that stuff, but from real world experience they are fine. I picked them up for under £300 second hand and they will easily earn their money, I think they are the Mk2

I think the thing that would do me in more than anything is the fact they are whipped on back to front on scopes. I still can't get my head around why that ever got done?

It's common with low rider and cradle guides to turn the first guide, they're generally smaller diameter so the elongated rear frame can be a problem with line coils or retrieving with a wide diameter roller/rotor revolution surf reel.
No need on a modern frame, at least they are all double leg on a scope.. I snapped about 4 singles clean off

Yeah seen it done on rods spinning rods in the states but an obvious case of lost in translation 😂
