Currently fish a couple of 9ft scopes as have limited storage space and they suit me for getting to venues via London transport. Normally fish sold bags or catapult feed in, but couple of times now have really wished I had a spodding set up either due to the range am fishing at, wind or bird life making these options a pain.
Does anyone have first hand experience with any 9ft spod rods that they'd recommend (or warn against)?
Was thinking of the Sonik Xtractor Spod or Nash Dwarf Spod (wasn't sure there was any sense paying the extra for the Scope Spod). No idea if there are any issues with compatibility with the scope rod bags.

I have the dwarf spod rod, because i couldnt merrit paying extra for the scope. It does the job, ive used it for several years now. But the blank does feel cheap to me, it just doesnt have that nice crisp feel of a better rod. This shows up more when using it as a leading rod. But for chucking a spomb 50 yards ot does what you want, i would bet the scope woild be ever so marginally more accurate/repeatable, but im not sure if it woild ever merit the £120 extra.

Could also try the 10ft xtractor or dwarf, 50" packdown and would get you a bit further more comfortably.
I'm in the market for one myself would be good to hear more reviews.

I went for the Dwarf 4.5 over the Scope and to be honest it's stood me in well. It does feel cheap as it was cheap! I've got Scope fishing rods but couldn't bring myself to pay the extra either as someone else said. I only fish up to about 70 yards and it handles that fine 👍 9ft 👍

I believe the handles on the scopes are longer therefor the reel seat in a different spot so what you say makes sense.
I've been looking at the okuma big bomber, had it on a 10ft dwarf spod rod the other day at the tackle store and it feel quite balanced

Yes, i put a dwarf in a scope bag. They fit perfectly if you put the tip at the end where the butt should be.

I have the new dwarf 9ft spod rod. I think its spot on and does the job for that type of short-medium range fishing.

I have the 9ft sonik xtractor spod rod and love it. Highly recommend it.

Do they do a 9ft Sonik 4.5lb? I had thought they did but can only see them listing 10ft 4.5lb rods.
Good to know you can get the dwarf in the scope bag upside down - sounds like it could be the way to go.

appreciating that i'm way to late to assist the OP in all likelihood i was going to mention the sonic insurgent spod rod. got one in 9ft and very impressed. mate of mine had an issue with am xtractor (not the spod rod) and i was put off those, but the insurgent has been v good. doesn't fit in. a scope rod skin though!
