I know that Ali pods are lighter and are very popular but do people still.buy stainless ones or are they dated now the ones I have been looking at are matrix jag and summit any feedback on these or is it better to get an Ali one

I would take stainless over ali any time. Stainless pods will never be outdated. The only reason to buy ali over stainless is to save money.

Stainless for me.
Timeless and solid.
Despite the extra weight it actually helps to keep the pod stable IMO

Rod pods in general are out dated. Buy whichever you please.

What would you consider to be the updated product to use on a peg where it isn't possible to use bank sticks?

Stainless or Ali are not fashionable these days as they're not black, probably neither are Pods but I've always had a pod as they do come in handy.
This is a bit of a Matrix/Jag halfbreed Stainless and weighs a ton but, I know it will be just as good in 20 years.
I'd go stainless every time, or better still titanium.

had all sorts of pods including some expensive ones £500 plus ! jobbys
but bottom line my old original Fox Quattro pod is still a great pod and I never had any stability problems with it ever in any conditions NOW its ally for me every time weight is important when your an old fart

Gerry is right, you don't need to spend a lot on a pod, those Fox Quattro's are good.If you are set on a metal pod I'd have a look at the Defiant MPS Panther if I were you in Titanium, I had Keith's equivalent (Trident) in Stainless for 15 years and those are awesome used as sticks or a pod.

I've used both an aluminium pod and stainless.
As much as Badger was a trash name the goalpost aluminium pod they made was decent, but as aluminium is a soft metal, the threads eventually wore loose on the extension sections. I had to replace aluminium buzz bars with stainless.
It was able to be used as goalpost banksticks with bars, or as a pod.
Basically it was everything I needed.
I bit the bullet and bought a Solar P1 stainless pod, and that can really only be used as a pod, or as the buzzer bars are separate, with stage stands on the central buzz bar threads.
In terms of weight, the stainless does give it stability, and on softer ground, the sticks can be pushed into the ground to increase that.
On harder banks, any pod I would add a cup hook or stick to hold it steady if I needed to have tight lines and locked up.

but without question the best Stainless pod I have ever had was this one BUT (at the time ) IT WAS WELL OVER £500 WITH THE 5 ROD CURVED BARS !! dont know what they cost now ?
