In your opinion what is the best all round rod available at the moment. The holy grail of being superb in the margins and capable of casting >140 yards.
Lots of manufacturers claim this, but do any actually deliver?

Nope
But I could reach 110 yds with a 2.5 chimera
I seem to fish a lot at the range that's just beyond underarm casting, but too close for overhead casting with most 'all rounder 3.25' rods
These days I'll happily trade 30yds of range for a better experience close in

A mistake i thought to discontinue the chimera , one of the nicest blanks i have ever used in any t.c , im glad i got some blanks before they stopped producing them.

They say they'll still replace breakages, I really should have tried my luck but 5 out of 6 sections seemed like taking the piss

Ha may as well go the whole hog and say all 6 , they still do chimera 1 2 3 and 4 which are all beautiful .

I'm quite glad I couldn't decide between the no 3 or the torrix 2.5 as my tester reel seat discoloured after 6 months outside, it'd probably take a decade to get that much exposure on my rods but I've got a couple of test seats out in the elements now with different varnishes. It'll be autumn by the the time I order them so I've got plenty of time to decide

No good for me. My hands are about 80 grit

In the good old days we fished with three rods one of each t.c 2.25,2.5 and 2.75 .An all round rod does,nt exist.
For me my old Kevin Maddocks was the best alround, but was tired of seeing them and gave them to my nephew last year.

I had the original KM1 challenger 12' 2.75 and they where superb able to put a baited rig 150 yards and fish under your rod tips. The KM2 which I had due to mine being nicked where pants in comparison. I sorely miss mine. Had my first thirty on one in 97 never to be forgotten. At the time the Daiwa had a good reputation and do to this day however I was happy with the KM1s they truly did our perform any Daiwa Rods my pals had at the time. Such an underrated blank. The styling put a lot of people off with the chestnut brown blanks and gold rings.

For me the Torrix Acurix in 3lb is th perfect rod..... beautiful rod.... should never have sold mine...like a lot of things, you don't know how good they are till they are gone...
