Hi all, moved to Bude Cornwall three years ago, anyway am struggling to find a decent syndicate, I can't stand commercial day water fishing , doesn't have to be anything special..
I've looked at the whole south west water thing and am considering upper tamer due to its size and scope, but can't decide as seems to have a lot of Matches and the whole lake closes for the weekend.
It just seems very clicky here sadly nothing like Northants where i moved from with lakes like kislinbury and Roman etc ....
Am looking to join BIdeford angling club as it's a steal for the price .... but thats just a side thing for a bit of day time carping as it's very cheap..
Do like my long weekends in my bivvy, that's a must for me ....
ANY help or even better contact details forwarded would be much appreciated....

Lots of waters around you mate,..loads of them..
But not proper syndicates,we dont have proper syndicates in that area,..
How about joining Roche angling club over in clay country,they have a website,you mention upper Tamar...its 81 acres,and the matches are on the Devon bank,over the dam,that usually leaves the rest of the ressi to fish unless its changed..
What about the canal, or Riverton,or Tarka swims,Melbury even..
Basically your going to have to travel....
But not proper syndicates,we dont have proper syndicates in that area,..

Brilliant ta for that reply, is melbury the one that's gated off or could I go and have a walk around it ?... again thanks for the response , much appreciated....Roche angling club requires an interview apparently, and Riverton hasn't replied to my email sadly.....I'm definitely interested in Melbury must say..

Melbury is that one yes..
Best thing to do is go to upper,find Ben Smeeth in his office,or Gary Vogel,speak to these regarding Melbury..
The St Austell,St Blaise areas,like I mentioned full of old mines,clay pits,some very deep,but very atmospheric..
Wheal, means mine...in Cornish..I'm a member of a famous wheal,I'm the last of the last,no more members after me...
Have a look at Rosemellyn,I've not been yet,but I will,up and coming..
Where you live lots and lots of waters,great for short sessions and trying ideas.. I wouldn't bother,going to any of those harder lakes til it warms up,or we get let out to play again..

I forgot to add,read Southwest memories on here,by Ken Townley,one if,if not the most successful local carper,read his stuff, all Roche waters most of them..

Melbury isn't gated - thats Jennets.
Better lakes (and quieter
) than Riverton - Willowtree at Cranford is new (and despite being not the biggest, bigger than Riverton). Furzebray (if you can get on!) and Hacche Moor are sensibly run and have some real lookers in them. Jennets is the gated one for days only. I keep meaning to give Lower Tamar a go, despite the otters.
Stafford Moor if you don't mind the crowds, Crawford Vineyards still do days (I think) and have a “syndicate”. There's a couple of new syndi's starting if you don't mind instant waters, Thatchers Island is one......

Clawford vineyards has been sold to a big corporation,no syndicate,and it had planning for 147 or so lodges,so that's the locals out of there..
The gate ,carpark at Melbury is or was locked,when I last went past on my brommie last week,..
Thought Riverton,main carp lake,the one next to the A361,was syndicate, I dont know,but course lake is,or was day tkts..
Hecche moor,that looks good,along with the fantastic scale patterns..
Where to is Thatchers island,seen the youtube blogs of it,interesting..!!

Melbury wasn't locked - its on one of my cycle routes. They may have tho as there's been some anglers kicked off (and from Upper Tamar) for travelling from Brizzle - no way they've travelled down here for a day session! Reckon they thought they'd get away with a session as they are out in the middle of nowhere. Police fined them as well, expensive trip. There's a couple of layby's / forest tracks you can park in a couple of hundred yards up the road, can access it easily.
Thatchers is near Stibb Cross. Not opening for a couple of years iirc.
Willowtree (at Cranford) isn't massive, but Mark only allows 4 on, 2 rods only. Proper lookers in there as well.

Yes,I was over Bradworthy,working on my bosses daughters garden,so,drove to Hemmings,unfolded me M6l,raw and had a slow cycle round after work..
Your right tho,loads of places...most are,shall we say,not quite on the mark about sizes and stock..,but as I've got older,I'm not bothered at all I'm all about that moment..
Bit naughty bout the people on upper eh,no one seems to have fished the lakes in my village, I'm amazed...!!..
I'm not missing the nights,as I love short sessions,getting everything tight..and spot on..
See you on lower,or my son..he loves it,..

Word of caution if anyone's thinking of a trip - the SW lakes trust seem to be moving people on if they aren't from the local area - ie within 10 miles. Happened at Jennets last week. I know some of the local lake owners are doing the same.

Ahh,good old Biggles,last seen in Crowdy ressi,it swam up the Fowey rivlets,yeah,yeah ,deffo in Crowdy now dont say owt tho mate..

Cant speak for people from away,but I dont know anyone , of my lot other than me fishing much atm,and I only fish myplace when I'm fencing repairing...rather go out on me bike tbh..
Heard about someplace upcountry tho ,furzeton or similar..
