Know there is a lot of talk about these reels. Being a cult reel rather than a good reel etc etc but seen a lot of sponsored anglers with them when surely they could get top of the range say Baisas for example. I'm considering getting these as my all rounder carp reels, so to use on 10ft rods and 12ft rod. What are peoples thoughts on this? Or these more out and out long range workers. And any reviews on the reels would be great. Looking at the black series. Was either them or the shimano xtc Ci4s 5500.

5000T are a proven work horse, bit clunky and grindy, but that is part of the appeal, but bombproof and better to service and obtain spare parts than basias.
Also nice upgrade options by Weston Developments... If you feel the need.
Just IMHO, I have owned 5000's and 6000's, but never Basia's.

I would go Shimano XTC 5500 out of those choices.
I had 4 x 5000T back in the day. Sold 3 of them and gave one away to a mate recently.
I've also got 4 x Basias (the original silver ones) but I never use them, the clutch isn't as nice as Shimano
All I use nowadays are my Shimano Tech Mgs (XTB 12000) / Shimano Ci4s (XTB 5500) or Ci4 medium baitrunners for river (which tends to be dirtier / muckier fishing compared to lakes!).

Agreed, said it before on here but you can't go wrong with the slow oscillation worm shafts for these.
The 5000ts will last forever & despite the grinding you sometimes get (mainly caused by the rollers on the spool lip IMO), they're worth every penny

Own SS3000 recently got myself some 6000t absolutely rock solid will last a life time shimano line clips are common fault my pal has 2 that just don't make any noise now 😆

Love my 5000ts. Not flashy, haven't got the modern features of most reels but solid and dependable.

On one setup yes, on another daiwa, plus various others.. no nerve hit at all, I won't let someone who talks hashtags bother me....
