I've never been that happy with the colours on my panasonic one and it's not very visible in a bright room
Is any particular brand better than others, in the 50-55 inch sub £800 bracket?
Most friends and family have sony but some of them moan about the android system being a bit glitchy

Tempting fate here........ we have a samsung tv and is over 10 years old. good picture quality and no problems. It was the one advertised on tele where the kid climbed into the tele through the screen. We brought this after the Mrs was told she couldn't have Laser treatment on her eyes for some reason so the money she had put by for the Op was spent on the tele, it cost about £1800 and is still going strong.

I actually got my daughter a smaller version of that, it is good, but I'd like one slighter better than hers
Apparently Samsung are better than Sony in bright rooms (oled vs qled) so I'm veering to Samsung at the minute

My Samsung died earlier in the year and that was one of the first flat screen versions HD ready at the time.
I replaced it with a Panasonic as I wanted it to fit a certain sized hole and it's the only one that fitted
Picture isn't as good as the samsung

Take a look in richer sounds if you've a local store. Always pleased to assist with any questions and great prices too. On most TVs you can get extended 5 year guarantee with a great after sales service too. Won't go anywhere else.

I've got a Samsung oled, 32 & 60 I think
Picture is great and all apps etc. seem to work well
The currys warranty comes recommended for homes with airborne toys

I wouldn't trust a currys warranty to clean my ring piece
The ones I want seem to be out of stock everywhere and I'm in a bit of a rush, I'm trying to work out the difference between a 58incher @750 and a 55 inch at 600, I'm not sure the difference between qled or the cheaper screen, is one better than the other in a bright room?

They were pretty good with mine. Rolled in with no box, lead or receipt.. said the screen had somehow stopped working (it had been hit by a wooden hammer lol) and it was good as new in about a week
Our 60 is in a really bright room and I am happy to report you can't see a ****ing thing on it when the sun's out

They were awful when I bought a Samsung dvd/home cinema jobbie years back, it should've just been replaced after three months when it had been back twice already but it was going for repair every other month till I bought another one.
Sounds like I'm better off buying the cheaper one and some black out blinds

LG make all the OLED panels, all the other brands buy from LG
Samsung make most LED panels but unless you buy their very top tv's the rest are crap. Panasonic and Sony only use top end screens, they dont make there own anymore, generally these two have the best set up behind the panel.
Your best buy would be a Panasonic OLED or a Sony, followed by a top end LG and last a top end Samsung.

At a time when you can buy a TV for 20k+ I don't know what top end is
Even entry oled seem to be more than I want to spend on tech that'll be obsolete in 2 years anyway
I think I'll be getting the Samsung 58inch qled one on my way home

I'd be happy with one of them, it depends whether you're one of those people who sits down and watches TV and worries if the blacks are black enough. I was well impressed with the LED TV in post #3 it was demonstrated to me using a Star Wars film. Maybe I could've found flaws if I studied the pixels rather than the actual film but that's me , each to their own
