These have been out a while now look a good reel for the money how are people finding them ?

Not a bad reel for the price but they definitely need a carbon washer upgrade !!

I had four and sold them. Nice and smooth and great line lay but the line guards are plastic and a nightmare. Line goes behind and snaps the lugs off. Also bail arms are stupidly thin wire gauge and bend in a strong wind!!

I've had 5 of these for over 2 years now. Shimano advised not to overfill the spools after I had broken 2 sets of the plastic lugs. That fixed it, no problems since. Oh yes, Ice Washers, too,it makes adjustment fast, and spill turn smooth under pressure.

Just makes them smoother off the clutch. It's a bad idea and better off leaving the original washers in as you can't fully lockup the reels if you need to like fishing to snags or not wanting to give an inch near a weedbed. Using ice washers, a fish can still take line to some degree.

Mine really piss me off, line always ends up under the spool

Xsb mags dont have a line guard at all and i dont have an issue, even with heavy fluro, you just have to get used to it
Its user error if line goes behind the spool im afraid (overfilled or incorrectly loaded spools, not controlling the line properly etc)

I Had 3 when they first came out, changed them the next year to the new power aeros,
For the money they're okay but not sure what the longevity would be on them, I 'm lucky if i get to have a 24-48 hour session once a month, they had already started to make the odd noise and had issues with all of the faults that other have had.
Admittedly the spool thing is the overfilling but fluro is full time job on them even if they're not overfilled, it can too easily get behind the spool and cause even a monk with a vow of silence to swear.
line management when wrapping up has to be constant tension and hand round the spool to control it or you'll be removing the spool to unravel.
The drags would sometimes stick so needed to make sure that the spool had released, the ice washers will cure that.
The worse thing was only two lined up with spools and handles no matter what I tried.
My ocd would not allow for this, shimano even asked to take a look at them, but they couldn't fix this either.
I did write on here about them and it might have been the the earlier ones are not as good as the newer ones.
I may have been too quick to judge but I wouldn't have another set .
If I was looking and didn't have the power aeros I'd probably have a look at the new daiwa emblem 45 or spend a bit more and get the ultegra Ci4 version(this version has the deeper spool skirt like the power aeros), but having said that thousands of people are happy with them.

Power aero again have the spool clicker problem...
Seen the Ultegra XTC today looked nice black nail arm again do they suffer from the spool clicker issue ?

Dunno, my power Aeros haven't had a problem with the spool clicker yet, they're 3 years old
I suppose you'd have to catch fish to get the issues with the spring on the clicker,
To be honest though I'm not sure if a clicking spool would make much difference to me, I'm never that close to hear them anyway.
