I guess some people have theft insurance? I'm looking for recomendations. Particularly if you have had to make a claim - that's when most insurance companies show their true colours.

We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and have been selling fishing insurance for quite a few years now. Someone took up our insurance today who said they found out about us through Carp Forum so I thought it would be a good idea to sign up and see if anyone had any questions. Halifax home insurance with away from home insurance, had to make a claim when stupidly left my rod hold-all at the lake by the time I got back it was gone, they sorted it and paid out very quickly tbh not going to complain at all

When you do get insurance, make sure you check their limits for items kept in a locked shed. I found out, that despite my “away from home” cover being pretty good, my shed contents doesn't cover the value of my gear and as such have found myself needing additional insurance to cover my gear. When I renew I will look according to my needs and search for higher cover in this area.

A few years back unfortunately had my garage broken into and nearly all my gear gone, Halifax were as good as gold with the claim once we had a crime number. Getting the police interested was the hard part.

This is a good point.
If your home contents insurance doesn't cover your kit whilst in the garage / shed then inside the house becomes your default option. Then you're stuck with finding the space ....
Luckily, I found that my wife's Life insurance DOES cover her her while she's in the shed, so ....

My fishing gear is covered under my contents insurance with Hiscox. They were more than most but they've got a good rep for being quick and easy to deal with when needed. Not had the need to test that out but know others who've had good experiences with them and awful experiences with others.

Same here with Aviva.Just double checked when renewing. I have upto 5 grand cover in my garage.
