before i take the plunge and order one of these tomorrow has anyone had any experience using one? I am looking to spod around 150 yards putting out large beds of bait in one go . I read its easier to put out large beds of bait then the full treb and is more user friendly any info would be great thanks

had one built by kev clayton, i love mine its a brilliant bit of kit. Id been using cheapish spod rods around the £50 mark (chub, sonik etc) and id destroyed them and found them hard work. this in comparison is so much better and easier on your body if you are doing a lot of spodding.

cant compare it to trebs as ive never used one before, as far as im aware the trebs will give you greater distances but your casting technique needs to be good enough to get the most out of those rods

Thanks mate I heard they were a bit more user friendly for using any length of time just ordered one for next day delivery so I will see how it goes

Yes mate have built a fair few of these , very easy to use , the trebs need much more work .

Fantastic bit of kit also very light for a spod blank... You will love it definitely much more user friendly than the treb spod

Had it delivered yesterday seems nice and light. Tip seems fairly soft will be out tomorrow for a few nights tomorrow so will have a better opinion on it then 👍🏼

How did you get on with this Jimbo? And anyone else using one?

i haven't had the chance to use it yet chaps i manged a to get out for a night before the lockdown but fished singles to showing fish rather than cracking the spod out. as soon as the lockdown is over and i get out i will report my findings lads

13 footer goose it feels fairly soft if I am honest. heard the full treb is a right pain in the arse to use for any length of time so I decided on the aviator hopefully all will be fine

I use the 13ft one and to be honest, it is the best spod rod i have used

Ive had it for almost 3 years and spodding constantly over zigs at 130yds plus is no issue for it

The backbone in the blank is incredible, it does a lot of the work for you. Its fairly easy to compress (unlike the treb version) but you do need to be able to cast 'properly' to get the most out of it. A bloke on my syndicate says they are crap because he can only get 110yds out of his with a bare lead. A good caster will see 190 plus with a lead and 160 with a heavy spomb without any trouble

exactly what i wanted to hear busted thanks for that mate. I am a competent caster so I shouldn't have too much of an issue. i have an old greys spod rod somewhere i hit 180 with that i think it cost about 80 quid . it couldn't chuck a spomb that far didn't have the backbone. hopefully it will be up to chucking those large spombs out a fair way takes an age firing out those little ones. the problem is with the cheaper spod rods i cant help but think if i really hit it i could blow it up. hopefully not this one
