Ok

so this has been out a while now and I understand there were some problems early on with this system but apparently with the new krimps and using the right lines all is now ok ?????

so my question is !! is anyone using this NOW and finding its brilliant ???????

Just make sure you pinch the crimp nice and firm and you shouldnt get any slippage.

I have a bit of a hit and miss with them
Sometimes crimps ok nice and even with the line in line and them the next one will appear to not crimp right with the line to one side slightly with the crimp squashed to one side ? ( not squashed evenly) Always make sure it's in the pliers right.
I do like them and give the ones I've made a good testing but don't like the ones that I've mentioned so just cut off and have another go

You are not sitting the crimp in the little groove on the tool correctly.Make sure before you give it the final full squeeze the crimp is sitting in both parts of the crimp tool so the crimp is stood up not slightly lay to one side.I have used crimps for years in sea fishing and now this korda one and not once have I had an issue

thats interesting !!

as Korda say they are not suitable for flourocarbon ? they say Korda Hybrid stiff braid and their Mouthtrap are best

what flourocarbon line are you using with it ?

When I use them Gerry I tend to blob the tag end first then pull it down and crimp it, just a added bit of security to stop it slipping 👍

Same as you, always blob the ends of any stiff filament line I use just for added security and never had any problems with the crimps or the pliers.

I tied up a few links with 25lb Boom, some crimped and some with a two turn blood knot, and pulled each one until something broke. The crimped ones either the hook started to open out (a size 6 Mugga) or the spinner swivel started to open out. All at far more pressure than you could put on with a rod.

The knotted ones, the Boom snapped at the knot, every single time. Still more pressure than I could get on with a rod and it wouldn't worry me using it like that, but it convinced me that crimps are stronger than knots.

I recently bought all the kit (pliers, boom and krimps) and with a bit of tinkering I am very happy with the finished rigs. I've been blobbing the ends of the boom BEFORE krimping. I pass the boom through the two channels of the krimp, leaving a much longer tag end that i need when its krimped down. I then blob the end with a lighter and tease it through the krimp until the right tag end length is achieved, making sure everything is kept straight and kink free. Krimp firmly and repeat with the other end and viola!! I'd rather get through a spool of Boom sooner (through using/ wasting longer tag ends) and have complete peace of mind than skimp and make the spool last longer
