Thinking about getting one of these to assist further with night shots. Assuming as they are made by an actual credible photography company that they may be better than Rhino's offering. Anyone given them a go?

Thanks for your replies lads. I am referring to a specific model made by 'Neewer' you know the same guys that make intervalometers etc just wondered if they were any good.

Just use a flash. Beams are supposed to be used for video and make pictures look washed out. If your camera doesn't have a flash or your struggling to focus - these not only make focusing easy but will also mean your pictures are 100x better

Neewer and andoer seem to do the same stuff, and a lot of it can be found on ebay unbranded cheaper.
I'd agree with the previous poster, a flash is a better option.
Godox do some great flashes for little money (also do led lights)
You can even find certain godox flashes rebranded as neewer, pixapro hahnel.....
I wouldn't worry about brand names on cheap led lights

My night shots are not bad for the gear I use, (canon 550 and nifty fifty) but I'm going to (when I eventually catch one) mount my rhino beam on a tripod close to the fish and use that in conjunction with my built in camera flash. As I like my pics portrait and with a prime I'm quite far away from the camera so won't be washed out

Not familiar with these Rhino beam type of things.
What do they do, do they light up the area so you can see to take a photo or do they do the job of a flash gun and give a burst of flash.
If it's the former does it give out enough light that a flash is not required

It's basically a rectangle with loads of leds inside it. You can have it at varying brightness but it's just that. Basically the same as a led workman's light. Depends how close you are. I would say if you have a kit lense and take pics horizontally youl only need to be a couple of feet from the camera, so mounting it in the mount on top of the camera should be ok. Doubt it will be better then a normal flash though. What lense do you have and how do you take your pics?

I normally get a mate to take a picture on my old G5 without problems.
