Yeah, same for us too, always breath a sigh of relief when we see the cow island, you sort of know that you have made it!
Think I will turn the Sat Nav off at Rouen next time and do the route from memory, and hope that one day the French build a route périphérique
I was looking forward to seeing all the graffiti on the walls opposite the rail yard, but the Sat Nav didn't take us that way this bloody time

It was worse when they had the fire that shut the bridge and converging lanes, I never go that route anymore.
Portsmouth to Caen ferry on the overnight crossing, get a cabin have a nice kip, breakfast on the boat and a leisurely 7 hour drive down to Rainbow, makes much more sense when your making a single crossing unless you add discounts or block bookings on the train which I wouldn't get to use.
Ferry route
Portsmouth - Caen = £500 but depends on time of year and how early it's booked average with a cabin both ways
Tolls = 66 euro
2 tanks of fuel = £160
Driving time both ways 18 hours
Tunnel Route
Crossing £220ish depends on how early I book
Tolls 140/150 euro
Almost 4 tanks of fuel £300
Driving time both ways 32 hours
If you want to save 186 miles of tolls both ways on a decent road take junction 30 Poitier sud then follow sign for Angouleme jumping on the N10 brings you out just north of Bordeaux at Jct 39a/b only adds about 15 minutes on the journey but cuts the tolls down by 68 euros worth the extra 30 minutes for the round trip.

Cash in Tesco vouchers for tunnel tickets and tunnel costs nothing.

And if you get a 100 quids worth of bait nicked from the freezer while you are there it makes the trip even more expensive FFS

Certainly tarred your experience of a very successful trip .
Thing is if you out him publicly on here it could jeopardise any future trips you may lucky enough to get ( by rocking the boat )
It's certainly a semi closed shop with regular faces .
Personally I would name the thieving ****

That's my dilemma exactly bud.
I'm worried about rocking the boat at Rainbow and Pascal believing him not me, because I'm more of a newbie and he Is more well know, and it's just sour grapes on my part and ban me instead!
Apparently this bloke thinks that he is untouchable as well.
I Know quite a few of the regulars, and they Are all pointing the finger at the same bloke So he is on borrowed time anyway once one or two them speak to Pascal🤫🤫
Plus I will have my pound of flesh should I bump into him👊👊

As much as it would make you feel better, giving the guy a smack in the head won't do you any favours.
It could of course even land you in trouble with the authorities which no one wants.
If you really want retribution then bide your time buddy. If the guy is as lousy as you say he is, he will eventually hang himself.
Otherwise, get in touch with Kevin Ellis to send out a coded message in one of his videos. Practically every angler in the UK and Europe appears to watch his videos. I'm sure the guy will get the message then!

If enough people are being tucked up by this bait thief, get Pascal to install multiple discreet CCTV's in the bait freezer room, to keep tabs on who & when people are going in the freezer, to catch the culprit red handed, and ban them.
Just an idea.

So you come face to face with the bloke who nicked your bait and you do nothing lol, you obviously didn't grow up in the same kind of neighbourhood as me
On reflection maybe you're right, it's probably much better to name and shame him as a bait thief.
I feel like I have said all that I can on this bait stealing business, damned if I do, and damned if I don't
I'll just sit back, say nothing and wait for the fireworks once pascal gets wind of it

I'm really not going to mention the type of estates I grew up on.
And tbh, I have made some mistakes in my past that in a way I'm still paying for now.
I guess I was just trying to say that you can be the bigger and better man by not being violent and deal with this prat in a different way.

Misses doesn't shop in Tesco's, aside from that the driving leaves me wiped out travelling the Calais route i'd rather pay the extra to avoid driving through the night or taking an extra day at either end of the trip to recover.
