Hi guys
My first topic ๐
I've found such different ways to spool Gardner GT HD on reels :
-spool with label facing up
-label facing down
-spinning spool with a pen or a screwdriver in the middle to keep it straight
Every year I use to prefer the pen method after 24h soaking on warm water but GT-HD seems a bit special ๐ค
Any thoughts ?

So they are saying we don't know , check it for yourself. Probably the best advice you'll ever get. Good old Gardner.

I spooled up 3 reels weeks back, spool facing up (weighted down), in a small bucket of water.
Happy to say, 4 day sessions in, and I'm V pleased, no coiling and casts well.

I tried the method in post #2 with Shimano Technium and it was a disaster. I ended up taking it off, replacing with new stuff and used this method LINKY POO™ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjbEy9xNWJk
No more problems๐
I'm sure someone will come up with a theory to say otherwise but I can't see there being a difference between different brands of line

Youโd think by now there would be a recognised industry standard for this ๐ค
Edit - I also use this mono as of this year. I spooled up with the factory spool on its side (not face up or face down) and did have some line twist.

When I spool nylon or fluoro the line has to come counter clockwise. For most brands that is with the label up!

Apart from the old days when the advice was spooling it up with a pencil through the middle I have never had a major problem spooling any mainline.
Chuck it in a shallow bucket of lukewarm water, (label up or down doesn't make a difference) leave it 20 minutes then wind it on through slight tension, use a small towel through your fingers if necessary.
works fine every time!
