They are interchangeable between some models, if you know anyone with different reels it's well worth seeing if they'll fit your XTD

I had one break on one of my old XTC's. I took it into Johnson Ross & they compared it to some that they had. Turns out it was one of the Technium line guards that fitted. Might be worth looking at those. Good luck.

Try The Tackle Box (Dartford) they had a 5500xtd line guard when everyone else was out of stock.

See if any of the other ultegra or techniums are compatible.

Only place iv found that do them at mo is mvspools

Mv spools don't have it they make an alternative

Anyone got a broken reel I can have the guard off ?

if its going to jeopardise or ruin a France trip you can pick the 1400 xtd second hand for 80 quid if you look around, surely 160 to salvage a good France trip is worth it

Time for a stupid Q, why, is their something special I don't know about this reel ?
To my knowledge the line guard only prevents line going behind the spool (and that doesn't always work), and that can be prevented by careful use, can't it

Either way, there's a pair on Ebay, push comes to shove, also 1 with a broken guard too, if they're the same reels.

Weston developments now have stock of the shimano line guards for the XTD if your still looking just seen them post on their Facebook page
