Looking for opinions here, I've been on a bit of a bait making journey last year or so. Going from a kilo per HR to being able to manage 3kg / HR with a friends help. This includes 10min set up, and 10min clean up.
Currently I do a 10 egg mix in a bucket with a whisk attachment on a drill, which speeds up that phase no end.im gunning out within 5mins ( yes I know I should let it stand a bit longer )
I'm using a manual gun ( roughneck ) pretty decent kit TBF and hands can last about 20 eggs
My friend the rolls and boils..
I'm thinking does anyone have any edges they use to up production or is 3kg about the max per hour
Second hour would no doubt yield more if my friend and I switched roles

Use a airgun for making sausages.
Safes time and your hands.

Compressor and gun is a massive advantage. Paddle mixer and builders bucket
Can easily make 10-12kg an hour with that set up. Little roller track to feed the sausages down take one off and roll.
Have the rolling table set up angled with a piece of guttering underneath leading into some trays
Once mastered you'll get upto around 15kg an hour like this

Yep this is probably the next logical step.. get an airgun and compressor. I'm not a fan of the battery operated things as I've heard a few horror stories.

Hi. We make quite a lot of bait. Luckily I have a commercial rolling machine, but in all honesty it's not the rolling that takes the time. It's mixing dry powders and then mixing in the liquids. We use a cement mixer to mix the dry powders. We did have a Hobart that has just died on us. So if I could give you one piece of advice it's sort out your mixing. If you can find a dough/planetary mixer then it can be running whilst you are doing something else. As the others have said an air gun and Compressor (get a silent one) will save you looking like popeye.

Would you use a paddle mixer to mix your eggs and basemix or would a machine mixer be ok ? any advice on what would be a good mixer ? for a few kilos. I dont make a lot of bait, but i do find it time consuming.

This is the sort of mixer you need to be looking at.
I was told if you halve the litres that's roughly how much basemix it would comfortably do.

Wow ! Thanks for your advice and link. Looks like a fair old mixer that one, a real beast !
Kenwood xl mixer, dewalt gun, modified gardener table. Boil on kitchen hob in big pan.
5 kg in one hour start to finish.

Impressive. I need to become more roller productive like this
What litre size bowl does your Kenwood XL Mixer have, the 6.7 litre one ?
how many eggs or kilos of base mix you knocking up in one go comfortably in that.
How do you find the Dewalt caulk gun, the batteries last OK on a firmish mix. I am assuming it is one like the -18V XR Sealant Caulk Gun.

12 eggs per run in the 6.7 litre bowl. 1.5 kg base mix. Blends in about a minute. I have a few spare bowls which speeds things up.
Gun ok on firm mix, just charge battery up in advance.
Bespoke Gardner table, 4 section on top, 4 on bottom. 6 sausages at once no problem.

Think I might buy one of these for the wifes birthday.

Another key factor for increasing boilie production is to ensure the Mrs is not at home.
They are sticklers for cleanliness in the kitchen and they generally get in the way. The also object to certain thing going in the dishwasher.

Ive had to take my bait making facilities else where as she does not like the funny smells, she can smell tuna oil on my hands as soon as I walk in the door. I wouldnt be so mean as to buy her a dewault gun as I already have one of the chinese ones.

I once got caught using her treadmill as a sausage conveyor.
I got my Mrs to smell this bottle of liquid I had just got, whipped the lid off and the little insert out stuffed under her nose, accidentally touched it with the bottle and she went absolutely berserk, it was n-butric. I had a looonng wait if you know what I mean.
