Good evening all,
A question on the later alarm heads from SN, I hear the term Hybrid used and wondered what does it mean? looking at the wheel there appears to be one magnet on it?
You then have 3 levels to adjust to, normal, mid, storm, is that correct please?

the mk3 has 3 levels of volume,off medium and high, two sensitivity settings,high and low. the wheels can be bought with extra magnets to make them even more sensitive buy in my opinion that's not required with the mk3

The model I'm referring to must be a MK3 as it has 3 levels for Volume and the same for sensitivity, I borrowed them and liked how the storm function worked when there was a lot of weed moving on the wind.
I was just curious as to what the Hybrid term was referring to, but I guess it's the fact that you can adjust the sensitivity and volume from the alarm head without changing wheels.

I could be wrong (quiet normal lol) but i thought the hybrid designation referred to the cases being delrin, with a slightly different back and speaker cover

I've been using Nevs for a lot of years but if i had the budget i would definitely get a set of the delrin ones as the cases are poop. Even if you avoid cracking the bases the backs can be just as temperamental, i had one sheer clean off on a take last year

I have a set of delrins, the ones I have are sold as mk4's as they have 3 levels of sensitivity with one of them a storm setting.
Basically they don't beep until you get a proper take.

I nearly bought a set of delrins with a custom receiver not long ago but changed my mind as didnt think they were worth £700. Im not sure why they are so dear as delrin is a very cheap plastic but very tough so they should all be made out of delrin really.

Maybe the plastic cases are injection moulded and the delrin cases, machined - that would make the difference in price understandable.

Just did a bit digging and apparently they are machined from a single block of delrin.

Steve made some Andy Little re-makes out of solid Delrin, then he combined his standard design with the Andy Little re-make design which affectionately has become known as the Hybrids. Smaller in every dimension than the standard Delrin model.

Certainly the ones I used were machined, I had a close look at the finish so assume they were Delrin.
Overall they were nice alarms, I prefer a wheel type alarm and liked the simplicity, ok not quite as simple as my ATTs but I do like the 3 simple sensitivity adjustments and the option of silent alarms.

There seem to be more delrin alarms for sale than std ones!

I haven't fished a great deal since I got them but they do seem solid and much better than the originals. I went for the high backs so I don't need to bother with snag ears.

Yes noticed there are high backs and standard backs. Im quite tempted with an all blue set ive just found with blue 3d printed all blue sounder box. £700 is a hell of a lot of money for what they are though. Just bored of my txid's. Ecu compacts also look nice.

Seems crazy to pay extra for alarms because the cases don't crack like the standard ones. Shows the normal Neville are not fit for purpose and despite various updates over the years the cases are still made of cheap brittle plastic.

Sounds like me trying to convince myself of a reason to try them, I did have a set of Bug Eye ECU's along side my ATT's, quite liked them, but never really used all of their functionality, they're loaded with great ideas if you like to tinker with settings and LED colours, but in the end they weren't for me so off they went.

They only crack if you over tighten them when trying to line them up on a buzzer bar.
It is a design that has been around for donkeys years - I thnk they have proven that they are more than fit for purpose.

I'd have to agree with that, even my ATT's get cracks if you over tighten the case screws, but honestly it has never stopped me enjoying or using them, once I followed the instructions and did it correctly the cracking stopped! outside of our small area of interest there are plenty of similar examples to compare.

I got a set of Nev's 2nd hand and they had been over-tightened at the base and the back plates, ended up plastic welding plastic discs to the base of them, and did away with the screws in the back plates replacing them with studs I bonded in, I used tiny Brass Nuts & washers to hold the back plates on.
To totally stop it happening I'd just fit Quick release fittings so you don't have to worry about alignment ever again, I have a set of DSi's that I had from new about 15 years ago – still like brand new, never had to align them once thou.

Theres a couple of people who are friends with steve that get them made by him then sell them on. My only issue with the delrins would be if you did crack one how easy it would be to get it replaced as he dosent deal with the general public.

I dont think hampshire tackle had any bug eyes in stock. They have two sets of std led delrins in at the minute.

My cases cracked, and I only ever used them with rubber 'O' rings, and very lightly tightened Solar Poziloc fittings, because I knew of their reputation.
So I sent them off to Dalectronics, to have them re-cased. Got them back and all good I thought.
I looked at them about 6 months later, having not used them, or even put them on a bankstick, or buzzer bar, and 2 of them had cracked again.
They definitely were fine when I got them back, and I don't blame Del, because as has been mentioned, the cases are crap and not fit for purpose.
Shame, because everything else about them is great.

I bit the bullet as well and my bought that blue bug eye delrin set with blue bug eye remote. You only live once and i would of just regretted it if i didnt buy them.

I've got a standard multi colour receiver to go with mine, I'll be using them over the Xmas break, not that I get many bites during the winter but I'll of at least put them through their paces.
As you say, you are only here once, I know I'll enjoy using them, simple classic alarms that work without too much hassle,

Just got a set of bug eye ECU's, currently using att's, like the simplicity & battery life but looking forward to having proper on off switches & not playing hunt the magnet to turn them off when its fallen out of the cover again.
Probably won't use a lot of the settings apart from the sensitivity if its windy but fancy a change & you can't take it with you.

Been out on the bank today, not a touch, however I was happy sitting behind my new alarms, patiently waiting, out of the breeze, sun shining intermittently on my face and no rain.

One of mine had a fault so there going back. It would only sound if the wheel was to the left side of the pin. If the wheel was slightly to the right side of the pin it wouldnt register at all. Its as though the magnet inside the alarm is out of line with the magnet on the roller wheel. Kind of lost confidence in them now so think im going to get some bug eye ecu's.

That's not so good, I checked mine and whichever side the wheel is on the alarms work, now all I need is a run 😂😂😂
