Mate of mine uses their stuff, sure he ordered some recently. Not for me, I like to do my own grub, but it is very, very good food!

Just seen on insta he's stopping running it, never used it or saw the point of it but must have a good client base to last this long

Didn't take him long to realise working in the fishing industry doesn't always mean more time to go fishing...

Tbh, I'm not sure if that is why he's selling it. I think he's done quite well out of it and wants to cash in.

I've used it many a time, really good food quality and concept. Don't end up wasting food or over eating because of it and handy can just pack when it arrives. Hope someone else buys it and continues with it.

Not being judgmental, but looking at the accounts, they are £120k in debt, Scott is no longer a director and the website says they are closed until further notice.

If you have seen Scott's insta posts he has had to make the decision on health grounds, in particular his mental health, (although he does hint at something else).
He has been quite open in the past about having mental health issues (as well as other problems) so to do what he has can't have been easy, he will feel as though he has let a lot of people down no doubt.
Comes across as a genuinely nice guy. I suspect that fishing keeps his head straight and the fact that he wasn't doing anywhere near as much angling took it's toll.

Tuff game the food industry, especially when you narrow your market.
its all about procurement and amounts to get prices down, then of course, the knock on affects of said amounts

Yeah it's not easy, he was effectively HelloFresh for anglers to start with, although as you say that left a very narrow market really in the grand scheme of things. I did however rate the food I had a few times, liked the fact I didn't waste anything etc. However the way the economy is going sadly it was always going to be the luxuries like that that felt it most. Many will have gone back to their pot noodles 😂😂

Sadly not! I came out of it a year ago and now do kitchen fitting, property maintenance etc. I still keep myself involved with a couple of local pubs and festivals and feel for the guys still balls deep in it at the moment!

I don't know if he's selling up or going bust, but even if it's the latter then he should be proud he gave it a pop. More than one in two new business will fail, fair play to anyone who takes the leap and tries to carve out something for themselves.

This is spot on. He wants to fish, you ain't fishing if you're running a business like fink food in its infancy. Well not until he has enough people working for him. Guess he wasn't prepared to wait it out, which is fair enough its hard work and stressful. I still fink its a decent money maker for someone who can run a business.

A client base of people who don't have the basic ability or time to meal plan or prep/cook/freeze in advance. Same reason Gousto, Hello Fresh etc are doing so well.
The lack of kitchen ability seems to be a running theme in the under 30's tbh, and fair play to him jumping in while it lasted!
I have friends who know/drink with Scott and by all accounts he is a superb fella, so this is in no way a dig at him!

ive not looked at Gusto or hello fresh's prices compared to Fink (in sure Fink have) but that would be a factor i guess. If a house hold is purchasing items from hello fresh, and their choices are vast, i suspect that would have had an impact on sales for a pure fishing focused food market

The quality of gusto, hello fresh, etc's ingredients are grim.
The benefit of them is it gets people trying different things, you can get stuck in a rut....

Their veg isn't any better.
You can get the recipes online, then just buy the ingredients yourself. Do an online shop if you haven't got the time. Better quality and cheaper.

I've got to be honest and say I've always been a lazy cook and at best very mediocre, home or bankside so i thought i would give the gusto thing a go a while back and i found it really good, the portion sizes were perfect, the quality of ingredients excellent (perhaps compared to what i was used to) and the little recipe cards were handy so much so i developed a new found liking to cooking, they were running deals for a while so it didn't work out too pricey, long story short I'm still a mediocre cook but i put a bit more effort in with fresh food meals now as it gave me the confidence to try a bit harder.

They've definitely got a place. We tried HelloFresh for a while but to be honest I didn't find the quality all that great and it was quite expensive. In the end I just decided to spend a bit more time on a Sunday evening planning meals for the week and sorting fresh ingredients.

I personally can't understand how hard it is to think, im going fishing at the weekend so il buy
Pack of bacon, some eggs and rolls
Pack of burgers, buns, cheese and onion
Or even easier make some curries, chillis, spag Bol and freeze them and tajes take them out when required. Maybe I'm just to tight, but it's so easy imo to do

That's all I do now, I batch cook anyway so I just grab a tub out of freezer and usually find out what I've got when I get to the lake as I'm forever forgetting to label stuff 😂😂

All the best to Scott, I liked the guys videos and I know he can be a bit Marmite for some people. Having been around family members with mental health issues, I hope he manages to settle himself and stay stable.
Only thing is regards this, I hope of the company if they are in £120k debt, aren't passing the Buck onto other companies and people who have lost out as a result or been left out of pocket.
As for not being able to feed yourself whilst fishing, if you can't do that you're gonna find yourself in trouble with future life 😄
