I'm only rolling 5kg every few weeks but find the Gardner Deluxe gun is hard work with a fairly stiff mix .Looking at electric guns I wondered if anyone had any views/advice on this milwaukee purchase from screwfix. Also if the gardner nozzles may fit it ..
Cheers

I don't know about these but I use the Anesty gun available from Amazon. That takes the Gardner nozzles etc.

That's expensive.

Buy this one, the whole end cap will screw straight off the Gardner gun onto it. They may all fit each other, I don't know, but it definitely fits this one.

Fairly sure it was the one in the link I posted. It revolutionised my bait making

It's def the same gun mate. Like all Chinese things they get rebadged into many names. But the unit is identical, just a different name (sounds like carp fishing hahaha).

These things are absolutely incredible. Our original units lithium battery shows no sign of deteriorating whatsoever after nearly three years. Three years of being used all day long, nigh on seven days a week. Bear in mind I destroyed a £300 Cox lithium bait gun in under a couple of months putting it under the same stress.

If you search on my profile, it should be easy to find as it's one of a few threads I've ever started. There are photos on that thread. That unit in your link is 100% identical.

Edit... I just bumped the original thread.

What do you do to stop paste getting behind the plunger? It's not quite like the Gardner style as doesn't seal fully to the tube!?

My friend has one of these and it's definitely the way forward for small amounts, test mixes and popups as keeps the sausage way more consistent than hand gunning!

Small amounts? Test mixes and pop ups?

I think you are a bit confused mate. We run so much stiff food through one of those guns a day. No pop up mix, real food bait.

The guns are made for caulk (what goes around your bath). They are not designed for carp fishing bait which is MUCH stiffer. The gaps in the plunger are expansion gaps, a pressure release. Because the machine has a lot of power, without those expansion gaps your friend will blow plastic nozzles/witches hats out one after another if you completely fill them in when using stiffer mixes. If you screw your plastic gardner collar on that power/pressure can smash these to bits. I know, I've been using adapted battery caulking guns for donkeys years. The expansion gaps are there for a reason. If you want to fill them in, are you telling me you and your friend don't know how to fill in some small gaps in some plastic??

Tell your mate to take the gun apart, and use some araldite etc to carefully fill in gaps and allow to dry for 24 hours. Or he could cut a piece of thick leather to form a large circular washer, glue that inside the plunger to cover those gaps. Or he could even be really forward thinking, pop along to the local builder merchants with the caulking gun and buy a plunger attachment without expansion gaps.

But honestly, he should just deal with it like we do, or maybe stick to a manual Gardner gun. That will be far better for big mixes, that are not pop ups or test mixes.

The time saved on gunning out mix after mix, and you cannot find time to clean out a golf ball sized lump of paste from the back of gun? I can unscrew that gun and clear the back out in under five seconds. We have to clean our gun tube every single day anyway, so I really do not see the problem personally. I understand for someone who has always used a low pressure hand pump gun, it might seem weird, but the expansion gaps are there for a good reason. If you do fill them in, don't fill them in completely. Leave very small gaps to allow a small pressure release... OR you will regret it trust me. There is nothing worse than having 20kg of paste knocked up, and you just blew your last witches hat out!

Sorry for sounding like a miserable old git EO. I was working until really late every night over weekend. Inc on bank holiday last night. It literally breaks you eventually. Note to self, do not write on the internet early in the morning, before drinking 17 cups of coffee first. 🫣

I made a stupid amount of GPB2 bottom bait barrels yesterday. They are 100% stiff food bait, with no cork. After I had finished, I cleaned that out from the back of the gun behind the plunger. Popped it into a bag, and froze it. I have loads of them.

Barbel or carp, when needed, they are absolutely the perfect size for an evening/night's fishing. Just saying, for your friend like 😜

Wow...that was definitely a hell of a reply! Lol

Yeah he/we use a proper air compressed 6kg gun for the main bulk of mixes when making a lot of bait... Just wasn't sure if you'd made any mods or anything to the plunger, as the softer popup mix does seem to get behind the factory one easily.

It was early

A compressed air gun is made for boilies though isn't. It has a much more advanced pressure release system. This is essentially a lithium powered DRILL, adapted to take caulk, then used by us to pump out bait.

The whole reason you and your mate purchased one, is the convenience. You know that an air compressor is a ballache with all the bells and whistles. This is simple, and dirt cheap.

My previous caulking guns had a standard plunger. We would go through witches hats and collars one after another. Always when the plunger was fully extended. Where this one has the expansion gaps, we have never blown one collar or nozzle with it. I could easily MOD the guns. I have not because for us it is better. But we have 3-7mm lumps of cork in our mix, which also will be acting to cover those slits a touch.

Change the plunger. If you start blowing attachments out change back and MOD the one with the gaps, to make the gaps much smaller.

It may not be revolutionary for you and your mate, because you are already used to an expensive powered gun. For others reading this, who have always used a manual gun, it is literally life/arm changing. It costs barely more than a manual deluxe caulk gun. I could have easily nudged a mate in the trade, told them to buy them all up from China at cost (buttons), sell them for £200+ at a whacking profit. I didn't, I purchased five for myself, then posted them on here.

Tcarper covered it pretty much!

Yes a small amount goes behind the plunger but it's no bother, I just scrape it out each time I reload it
