I am thinking of treating myself to a set of Basia's.
There's so much choice, are they all basically the same?

Had all of them and if I had to pick one it would be the 45 SLD.The mag sealed 20 is very nice but 45 SLD felt a better reel,the 19 is horrible and feels cheap and looks it too.If you want the magseal and bling like the basiair z45 qd then the 20 is the one

I've got set basia 45 sld qd on the distant rods they are lovely bit kit but it is all bit of hype an swag you could save your self some pennies an still have a cracking set of reels for the price you pay for 3. Unless you got the spare money kicking around that is.

I have basias QD's and absolutely love them last a life time and just sent them into be serviced and customised,worth every penny in my opinion.

I'd love a set of Basia QDX's, but I just can't justify the money. Until I win the lottery, I'll stick with my bombproof Sonik Tournos 10,000's.

I've currently got the Nadia 45 QDX.
Sold my Shimmy Tech 10,000XT's as although they had never missed a beat, I got a bit paranoid about spares should they ever fail.
Had a set of the Silver Nadia 45QD's, generally OK but a bit bright to look at
and the clicking handle drove me mad so bought a set of the black QDX, same reel, no bling, no clicking handle 👍
They are OK but would swap in an instant for a decent set of Tech 10,000XT's

I had the original basia qds, silver ones, and had them about 11 years, without a service. Never missed a beat, and they were second hand and well used when i got them.
Then had some customs, and the slds.
The slds are much more solid than the previous incarnations. And are very light. Love them to bits. Theyve been under water, sat getting dirt kicked up at them in a week of rain, and still been faultless. But....... Had i seen and handled the newer emblems before i bought the slds, id have saved the money and gone for them. I dont think they justify the price difference. But if moneys no option, why not go for top of the range

If its of any use The slds have a ported main gear and the rotor gear is held in place by a plate with the antireverse bearing independently sitting on top of this, and held in place with a top plate which has a rubber seal giving a slightly better level of sealing. The mainshaft is also a bit thicker and the line roller sits on a ptfe collar arrangement negating the rust issue early basia line roller bearings suffered with but the actual mechanical lay out is pretty much the same.

I like the SCW idea, but do t think the Basia 20's are worth the extra £150ea just for this and mag seal

That's some discount. TFT ‘say' they retail for £790 ea new, reduced to £550 at the moment.

You can get them on Fishernator for €499 - about £440. They're registered to ship here so no extra import fees/vat to pay. It's where I got my set from.

I got some original basias late last year for £1200 off TFT, with a free fox barrow. Pretty happy with them but the paint does scratch off easily so I got some velcro protector things that go round the rod and there's a little elastic loop for the handle.
