having looked at few harrison rods today i must say they felt very nice in hand and lot lighter than the free spirit i held early in week! The raven edition rods looked the nuts with not to much bling on blanks
what size rods in TC and length would be best
when would you use a 13ft over 12ft apart from distance? few have said that the extra length give better playing action because more of a curve with extra length!
if solid bag fishing most times on say linear fisheries bigger pools and odd times on bigger pits and sometimes just using rig and spoming over top! ( never really going to fish small ponds) what best rods

Have you considered aviator flex? Plenty of backbone for casting but still forgiving enough to make playing fish enjoyable

I use 12.6 aviator plus......
Great at all distances,don't be fooled in thinking you'd be over gunned,great under the margins aswell👍

I use the 12ft aviator plus... they're really nice rods, very soft and forgiving tip with the backbone starting mid length down. but I'd say they're more of an all rounder than a distance tool. I would feel totally undergunned trying to chuck solid bags over 100 yards.

None of the raven edition as not a fan of the guides fitted to them. Don't know which free spirit you looked at but if there is a weight difference in like for like rods of same length and tc it may simply be due to guides and butt cap doubt there's much in difference in blank weight.

no mate as not have flex in stock and did look on harrison site and said lot thinner blank and softer playing action! dont think will be as good with solid bag work if got to give good chuck than say the 12ft aviator plus or 13ft aviator plus

thanks buddy big help on telling me about action of the 12ft aviator plus! may go to the 12.6 tc aviator plus then for bag work and if like them maybe get few of the 12ft aviator to chuck single baits

it was the Hi-s 12ft and Hi-s ive er models looked at few days ago againt the esp terry hearn 12.9ft distance 50mm ring and the hearn 12ft 50mm ring and 40mm The ESP did feel better to be honest!
The harrison ravens felt even better in my opinion but thats not saying better casting as no expert as just starting!
i like the vortex Air rings with no inner! probley wy felt better than free spirit

Owning both esp hearns in 12ft 3lbtc 40mm they are great fish playing rods and I love mine, had 12ft 9inch ones in the past but prefer the 12ft ones. Also had aviators standard factory builds with kigan 3d guides but didn't keep them long as I was looking for a distance rod and tried loads over two years and now have Hi's ive's which I personally feel are a step up from aviators.

Totally agree. I previously had 12ft Aviators and recently changed to 12ft 6 Aviators. They are a very different rod - more power but very good under the rod tip.

Currently got the 12' 9 3.25 classics Goose, and sometimes feel like i wish they had a touch more poke / slightly faster tip perhaps.
The Hi-S ives a proper casting tool though aren't they?

I had the 13ft aviators now have the 12ft 6,I prefer the 12ft 6 but my mate has my old 13fts and he prefers them.I would go see if can try some out

Not at all. They can cast a long way but the top third of the rod is very forging and I would happily fish a margin spot with them. I've cast most of the long range rods over the last two years as I didn't want a full on distance rid like the full trebuchet, all I can say is everyone should try and cast several rods rather than play with them in a shop as they feel very different in use.

My torrix 12' 3.25 Tc will happy put a 4oz pva bag and 2.5 ounce lead 110 yards.
