Managed to snap a tip section on one of my HI-s quoted £200 for a replacement does anyone know ways of sourcing one cheapeer?

Let us know if you have any joy. What tips have people broken and how did it happen, only ask as the only free spirit rods I've been told that break fairly easily are the Hi's 220.

Its for a hi s IVE ER completely my fault down to neglect and packing up in a rush I guess as left them it in the van for a week so I guess damaged in transit

I had this recently on my FreeSpirit E Class Golds, Free Spirit customer services are appalling they wanted half the price of the rod for a new top section which was no fault of my own.
In the end I got a local rod builder to fix the cracked section but i wouldn't buy another Free Spirit rod after this.

How were there customer service appaling? Half the price of a rod I would have thought was a fair price unless it broke due to a manufacturing defect.

The rod was 9 months old and cracked at the bottom of the top section where you slot the 2 sections together, the section were put together correctly and when i took it back to my local FreeSpirit dealer whom I bought them off said it should have never split where it did.
For a rod under a year old i begrudged paying 1/2" the price of a rod for a faulty top section.

I had a broken down rod in my holdall free spirit as well and went to unpack it when I got to Salford park in Birmingham a few years ago and didn't break everything down and found the tip hanging off one rod,my brother fixed it couldn't really tell the difference in lengths so now I take everything off don't take any chances and set up every time from scratch.
Thing is I sold them to a guy at work and bought a set of 10' Harrison customs and first of all they sent them to wrong address via fed ex then first time I used them went to have a lead around and the tip cracked off on one,got to say though contacted tackle box straight away they arranged a currier to pick it up after they sent me a tube to send it back in and they fixed it really quick via a replacement tip.

I went back to the shop i bought the rods from as that was the only way I could contact Freespirit.
I tried phoning, emailing, Facebook and Instagram and failed.

How the shop deal with free spirit is up to them but it's up to the shop I bought them from to provide the customer service. If the rod has a manufacturing defect that is going to cause a breakage I would expect it to happen farely soon after purchase if used regularly and certainly within the first year. Most flaws in blanks show up and break within the first few casts.

Your dispute should have been dealt with by the shop, the rod was only nine months old and they said it shouldn't have happened so they dhould have replaced it or given you a refund.

I think the shop stopped stocking freespirit because of a few issues that fs did not want to help rectify

If true I may sympathise with the shop but they would still be responsible for a faulty product they had sold that was only nine months old.

It was with the shop as I had no was of contacting FreeSpirit, the manager of thee shop rang FreeSpirit when I was in there.

I cant grumble as its my own incompetence, regards Free Spirit or any other manufacturer of any item as Goose says your contract is with the retailer - its up to them to resolve it END OF
If they cant sort it with the supplier its there issue

I snapped a ER top section playing a fish from a boat and it wasn't under that much pressure
Roger hurst sorted it out I took a top section off another rod so he could match it cost me £200

Thing is anyone can knock a rod section without noticing even when packed away in sleeves and this creates a weak spot that breaks under load and not necessarily a high load. I've seen people break tip sections on a cast and blame the rod when reality is the line was twisted around the tip and they hadn't noticed.

My mate stood on his FS 13ft hisIve breaking the top section - 200 quid plus. 3 years ago
Another syndi member snapped a tip section of his fs see rods casting out last year. Was best part of 300 for a new top section.
