I'm looking to buy a bait boat, dont want to spend stupid money but looking for:-
1) reliability
2) the ability to fit my deeper pro
3) the ability to log a spot so that the boat automatically returns there.
Grateful for any recommendations/comments.

Depends how much you want to spend.

Actors good value but as to reliability the jurys out as they've only been on the market for 18 months? Some reports of longer term issues etc however the lids can be removed easily and the innards repaired by several specialists . . .
I ditched my Actor Plus as its steering and power transfer was sh*t however I now understand they've sorted this so for the money its worth a punt and if it goes wrong you wont get too upset!

Cracking boat the SB3 Pro-X. Picked one up myself and amazed by the battery life from a single charge. Not sure whether to go Raymarine or Tolson next year but I'm Chirping it through for this season.

I got fed up with chirping and bit the bullet on a Toslon 740 - should have got it fitted on purchase but have struggled to find the best position for the chirp as the turbulence off the back of the SB3 can kill it! Boats in the shop as we speak - cannot wait for Autopilot lazyness!

Just as another option check out the Catch X bait boat from Rippton.
Still fairly new on the scene, but a decent option for the price. GPS as standard.
Had mine a few months now, only used it a handful of times, but always performed well.
Haven't had the chance to fully test out the GPS function properly, but when testing initially it worked well and the free app is easy to navigate.

Horrible, twitchy steering on the actor plus even with the updates. Hopper doors can be problematic also.
The smaller one jams up, the hopper is too small. I've used both extensively and wouldn't recommend either to be honest.

Think you mean the MK4 Actor mate not the plus.... The plus has a single large hopper not two separate ones

No mate, I'm referring to both the actor and actor plus. I own both.
Technically with the hopper divider that comes with the boat and the two doors, it can act as one large hopper or two.

I've owned both and I'll 2nd Garys comments - he's 100% correct! Arguably the mk4i is a better boat in terms of size/weight/price but both have their limitations IMO

What did they do to sort the steering? Never really gelled with mine either, its great other than the steering.

I've got the actor plus and find the steering absolute fine works perfectly much better to steer than the ridgemonkey hunter 750 boat I had before it the steering on that was shocking

I had one of the first issue Actor Plus boats and the steering (or more accurately the massive delay from handset to motors) was appalling . . .I complained at the time but Boatman were not interested; so much so that they refused to admit the problem existed and recommended a 'lighter touch'!
I shifted it quick as IMO the boat was pretty much unusable.
Made a comment on their FB page relatively recently and got into a 'conversation' with the owner who then informed me that they had sorted it and that the problem had been rectified - apparently had I contacted them they would have sorted it . . . . . . .hilarious and a total step change on the previous response which I reminded him of - total denial.

I made the issues known with the delay and steering of my actor plus on the actor facebook page and was promptly blocked. So much for honest customer service.

They really didn't like the bad press when the new boat was released and in the style of Putin decided to childishly control all media rather than being honest and just sort it out . . .have probably lost a lot of customers because of it - myself being one of them!

I like the one handed remote with the Actor, plus, has anyone gone to a ND2 from actor? Just bought a Lucky Fish Finder and that has packed up on first use. Might have to bite the bullet and buy a deeper chirp with extender. Was trying save a few quid as its only for occasional use.
