Hi All, I am about to part with some hard earned cash for a set of Nash GT reels. Can anyone that owns or used them give me an honest opinion. Are they worth the dosh, I am looking for simplicity in a reel.

I wouldn't bother with Nash when you have got shimano daiwa and okuma get good reviews

I've seen these reels,they look like Kast King reels rebranded..
Again,I believe in being honest and drawing on some experience, not of the reels themselves, but common sense,the spools are overtly ventilated, surely that's a recipe for disaster,all that muck and grit etc ,if it gets on to the shift,youm buggered..
Much better reels out there,for less money made by a dedicated reel manufacturer..
It's your money,but I'd not buy them ..!!

What does simplicity in a reel mean? All reels are simplistic. Open bail arm, cast out, turn handle. I personally wouldnt touch anything with nash written on with a barge pole. Stick with daiwa or shimano or penn etc.
Just googled them £150! They look like they cost £30.

Im assuming he means cosmetically.
But if not, have a look at the daiwa gs3/4000s. Thry will do the job, better, and much cheaper

Only reason to buy those reels would be if it came with a free voucher to kick kevin up the arse.

Truth is, the Nash GT's are really good reels, light, well balanced with a superb clutch/drag. Agreed though Cosmetically they may not be everyone's choice...
I have the 4000 version on my floater Rod and cannot fault it at all.....if I didn't have Castizms on my 10ft Scopes I would get the 6000 versions in a heartbeat.

Fair review thank you. By simplicity I mean easy to use in terms of clutch etc. I had a couple a shimanos and found the dual drag function too complicated. I have physical and mental difficulties which makes me a little slow in thought at times.

If you want reels similar size to the Nash scope GT 4000 look at NGT profiler 60 reels look the same as the Nash scope reels have quick drag don't be put of by the make because their NGT I have Couple of them and seriously can't fault the money for £30 each been using the last few months and performed great

I've just watched a you tube video,called carp life tackle,and he's done a review of the NGT reels..the profiler reels
A couple of weeks ago I contacted Mark Qwarini,who owns NGT about a question if he was going to do 10ft 2.75 tc profiler rods and he said it was something he was looking into..
I've a few bits of NGT,no problems with it at all..
Edit,for the money,no one could argue NGT is not competitive..

I agree with you on the shimano baitrunner caps, they are a bit of a pain. From your reply i would go with a daiwa reel with a qd drag. Theres not much more simpler than that. Just a small amount of clicks from free spool to locked up 👍🏻

Something more simple is the daiwa ninja LT 4000 or they do bigger size if you prefer I have one great little reels as said I wouldn't buy Nash

The drag couldn't be easier to use mate, twist one way to lock it up and the other to set it to freespool, nothing like the fiddly Shimano front drags at all...

Easy to say but for me I have trouble working out clockwise and anticlockwise on front drag reels and its got me into trouble a few times. I have today committed to the new Daiwa BR, I looked at them in Angling Direct and they suit me to the ground. Thanks everyone for the help, I think scopes would have been a mistake for me.

Had the gt6000s for a couple of months but have now moved them on. I had the benefit of servicing a couple before buying myself and they are incredibly well built reels and absolutely and i repeat absolutely not the kast king lol! For a start the body is made from completely different materials, everything sits or rides on bearings and all in all they are superbly made, certainly comparable if not better than most of the main manufacturers offerings in that price range. I was concerned about dirt ingress due to the spool design but didn't have any issues with it in practice but a always had the spools fully down which helps. The only reason i got rid is due to the line clip which once clipped up therefore extended slightly, the line got caught back under the clip on casting and twice it cut me off leaving live rigs out in the lake which i couldn't retrieve which was a great shame.
