I'm on the river at the moment and getting through a fair bit of boilie.
I'm after a fairly decent fish meal, that must be nice and smelly as the river is tidal and often carries a bit of colour.
Ideally 20mm and not too soft.
Thank you

I know somebody who's doing very well on a river with bait from Decathlon, 20mm Monster Crab, £28 for 10KG.

I wonder how much that costs to make!

If you can make your own bait then you can knock up a half decent bait VERY cheaply

Depends what price you put on your own time.

True, it is a balancing act between your time/quality of product/ confidence catching or blanking on the bank.
Be wise in what you choose, the quality of what you maybe throwing in, could range from good, to floor sweepings

Very true. That said for the sake of sacrificing a morning/ evening you could easily knock up a bait much better than the cheaper 20mm baits available.
Offcuts from the like of Premier Baits would be a good shout

Life is a bit manic at the moment, new job etc so I'd rather buy a bag or two for the freezer. I'll have a look at the premier baits over runs. Good shout.
Try abs ring them up they do over runs to
The bait snobs will be out in force again
The Decathlon boilies are perfectly good feed boilies for waters here and abroad, don't let anyone make you think otherwise. When I used them abroad sometimes a hookbait layers could blow of the boilie so I occasionally used a different 'named hook bait.
Give them a go
As for using expensive baits as river loose feed in quantity...got to be potty!

It's made in Holland, costs no more to make there than the same bait would cost to be made here. Makes you realize just how badly the names rip off the buyer even with the added bits and bobs they put in.
Have a look at the Decathlon site, they list the ingredient's there's nothing sinister in them and they even give a use by date.
For what the OP wants they are spot on, a lot of the bait snobs' cant get their heads around the fact that the bait companies have been mugging punters off for years, making your own is another story if you have the time.

Tbf my mate uses decathlon white choc and does really well on it 10k £25. I personally wouldn't touch it for my fishing but on rivers it'll be perfect. 20k £50 is a lot of pre bait

a couple of sacks of 20mm halibut pallets wouldn't be a bad shout for mass baiting on the river
