I've an old Nash trax metro with the knobbly off road tyre. After using someone elses barrow ive realised how hard it is to push. Ive replaced the wheel with a 14 inch "puncture proof" wheel off ebay, but its even worse, it feels like pushing a flat tyre. Before i waste even more money, does anyone have recomendations on a wheel or even a replacement tyre?

Go on ebay, type in 14 inch wheelbarrow tyres,there's a UK seller in Coventry,..they do all colours including all black as well,just get the right axel bore,phone em up..

They look identical to what ive bought. I cant seem to find anything (non fishing branded) that comes with bearings. They all have cheapy plastic inserts.

If you mean ketoplastics,I found their tyres quite soft and difficult to push when the barrow was loaded

I have an old trax metro barrow i too didn't like the wheel, but i was fortunate to still have a prestige wide wheel from a very old mk4 porter and retro fitted this one works far better.
If your nash wheel is like mine you will find that they had used a 15mm bearing in the wheel on either a 1/2" (12.7mm) shaft or 12mm shaft i cant remember which it was as it was around 10 years ago now

Yes, braders and leeroy,I used a keto , pneumatic tyre,was OK for me,even with the plastic insert things,I did grease it up well though,and I do got pretty light though mostly so didn't really put it under lots of stress..
I bought a porterlite a few yrs ago,no issues,and I mean you can buy the wheel from prestige, but guess you've probably thought of that already...

I have a saber barrow and had the exact same thing - big knobbly tyre was horrible to push, on both hard ground and muddy.
I bought a carp-porter puncture proof wheel and its been great. I had to cut my spacers down for it to fit, but it only took me 15 mins with a hacksaw.

Im tempted, one resevoir i fish the hill up the dam wall is absolute murder, but its the only excersize i get.

Im looking forward to sorting mine out, I have another set of forks winging they way to me as I type this so I can either have a powered or non power barrow. Got all the other bits bar a case for the motor controller.

Lots of options on the 1st site for different axel sizes etc, big dug is another site with plenty of options. Get a can of slime too to help against punctures

Before you order a wheel double check the diameter of the shaft on your barrow, the ones in those links look like they show a 20mm shaft diameter, however on the sites there is a 400mm barrow wheel with different shaft options

I replaced a fox explorer wheel with the b&q black barrow wheel. Was better than the fox one! £13 ish

I converted mine with one of the hub motors and it works a treat, also using a lithium battery.

I left all my kit on the barrow in the back of my van, and my cheap new wheel is now completely flat at the bottom. I jist had to go "thud thud thud" as i struggled pushing it around a small intimate pond
