I'm facing a blank been here since Monday afternoon one more night I think then home,now when I go back to work they all know I fish and they won't believe I've not caught and they don't understand how hard it is and how much time,effort and money that goes into fishing and also planning a week away fishing.
Most are young lads,one or 2 do fish along with few older guys but I love my fishing they will never u detest and it's not just about catching I'll go anytime of year just love being outside,even my brothers who fish though they only pleasure fish or tiddler bash as I call it and my one brother has said don't know how you can sit there for that long and not catch,it's not just the not catching I think you can learn from blanking this will now get me thinking ready for my next outing.
I'd Like to here other peoples opinions of what friends say to them when they know you fish,my partner thinks I'm made for going but she knows I've been fishing now since I was pronounced 8/9 and I'm 50 now.

I think ultimately we are a bit mad chasing fish for days on end just to get a photo but it is what it is.

True mate my partner when I met her thought I could bring them home to eat(she's English but parents are from Barbados)and she doesn't understand why I spend money on gear when I can buy other stuff for myself but not fishing,and she moaned when I told her I paid £60 for some bait from the big one show,”saying £60 just to feed the fish” to be fair to her she's ok about though as I don't really drink and I work 50/60 hours a week and see her on my days off and weekends.

I'm on holiday for a week she thinks I'm at work I'm off fishing back home tomorrow what she doesn't know won't hurt her I'm doing something I love doing,I don't live with her so that a bonus at minute.

done that when I played golf, told the missus I was on overtime, she called after a round so I ignored it and put phone back in pocket, it bloody answered and she heard me joking with the lads about her 'not knowing',,,, never again!
We didnt live together then, we do now so I cant hide anything (apart from a few fishing purchases). she still thinks I am mad sitting in a bivvy for a few days especially with the cold weather we have been having.
A week blanking is better than a week working. Blanked my last 2 sessions but still raring for the next opportunity.

What's worse is people who think they are something special because they can catch a fish, down the pub in fishing gear and thinking it impresses people. it doesn't.

Because she'd moan about me going etc and this is my time as I had to use a lot of my holiday last year isolating as well so this is first week of my new holiday plus I'm taking her away for night end of this month then I'll spend time with her then fishing for few days she won't mind that because she can spend time with her mom too as she's bed bound.
On another note as I don't drive my brother has offered to take me some where but every where is booked for the end of month

No not yet mate heard one has died and I think weather hasn't helped compared to 2 years ago and also it's been hammered from what Ive heard people bivviying up 8 rods at a time and loads of bait going in

My mate, self employed, never worked Fridays, but would never tell hes Mrs, he would have hes gear in the van, and would leave in the morning as if going to work, on returning he'd sprinkle sawdust over hes clothes (carpenter) The reason - because he's Mrs alway made him a great lunch pack, if she knew he was fishing he'd get nothing 🤣

They don't know how it feels to be outside in front of a water... but mainly they ignore how it feels when the alarm ringing the bell and we pick up the rod... the efforts, the thinking about the next session, the ours spent on the banks, the blanks, are the connection to that wonderful feeling and the joy to get an achievement.
Well, I'm sure without doubt they'll never know.

1 nights fishing still to go and it sounds like youve given up already. That one nights fishing is a lot of people's whole session. Get of your harris and go find some fish.
