I signed up to the waiting list start of last year for the Horton waters, got a message yesterday to say a place has come available. Being honest I don't know that much about the waters but any advice be great. Send me a PM if you prefer.

I've had one too,But I think I'm going to pass on it as I have to travel from the Midlands and it's uncertain time's at the moment.Going to spend my money on a few local day sessions through the year.

Maybe because it is full of big carp, is open access to all, waiting list and funds permitting, and probably didn't expect it to come through so quickly!

You can defer it to next year. I think if you just say no then you lose the deposit. There was a 3 year wait for a gold but a lot more tickets came up this year due to the uncertainty about the following year and who can move where.
My understanding of 'open access' was exactly that of RK. Open to anyone to put their name on the list and wait for a ticket. When your name comes up you get the ticket, no panel, no interview, no recommendation required.
Closed access being lakes where you have to go through a vetting/recommendation process just to even be considered for a waiting list.

my mate waited 18 months for a ticket, got in back in may at the start of this season.. when me and another mate put our names down we were told its a 2 year wait.. that was back in june

One of my angling regrets is not taking a Horton ticket years ago when I was offered one. I think it was £500 then. But it was at the time the M25 was being widened and it was absolutely horrendous all round Heathrow for about eighteen months. As a Friday night angler I just didn't think I'd have any prospect of ever getting a decent swim after hours of traffic delays. So I declined it thinking I'd take one in a few years. That was silly as out of principal I would not spend £1500 on a ticket. Anyway the woodcarving is no more now so I see no point in fishing it anymore.
I'm really unsure about RK. I used to fish Jones Pit on a leisure sport angling ticket for about forty quid a year. Now RK want £650 for the same water. Don't get me wrong it's a pretty little water but there ain't that much in it for that price. But would it even be a fishery now without their investment?
I personally think Embryo is a better outfit, simply because he keeps the ticket prices more realistic for ordinary working men.

I've been on the north lake for 3yrs now, was considering a move up the road to a gold card next year but at £2250 I'm having second thoughts!
Price increase is a bit steep in my opinion. Maybe they thought they had enough names on waiting lists to fill the membership now.

Yep, got the text today. I'm interested to understand how it stands having paid a £100 deposit for the north waiting list, based on the annual fee bing 1k or thereabouts? A 50% increase is clearly extraordinary, and probably beyond what I would pay for a fairly busy water, meaning a telephone call is in order to discuss a refund.

As I understand they will refund if you request it if there has been a significant price increase. Mate of mine was on the south list and has requested a refund on his deposit as he wanted off the list and they have said yes
Hopefully they won't fill the syndicates and have to eat humble pie

Sadly all changed when Cemex sold the anglers out , i was on there back in 2004 when it was a great syndicate My favourite ever water , now like a lot of the original waters Money talks .
