What knot do you guys use?
I'm none too keen on using a braided shock leader + (Solar unleaded) leadcore, although to give me a few more yards, I've been thinking about trying it out to lessen the stretch that using heavy mono has.
I've been tying different knots - prefer knots instead of a knot to spliced loop on leadcore as I've had shop bough leadcore leaders go on me, I'm confident in my own tied leadcore leaders, yet there's still that element of niggling doubt in the back of my mind.
The only reason for the unleaded leadcore is purely down to protecting a fishes flank instead of straight braid helicopter style.

That one slips. I think the mainline has to be as thick as the braid for that to work with ArmaKord. What does work is if you tie a bloodknot and let it slide into the leadcore. Testing it it snaps well before the knot itself.

I'm not using leadcore. I'm using Solar unleaded - its just an empty sheath.

Im not sure if its the same as a needle knot but you can tie it without any needle but its the least bulky knot and super strong.

I'm using the Korda drop off bead kit plus a large eyed quick change non Flexi swivel that will pass over that no trouble.
I really like your knot, thing was like I mentioned in my previous post, it was slipping with ArmaKord.

Shouldn't do if tied correctly. The tag should be facing up the mainline away from the lead.

Nah, not for a shock leader and especially as the point where the knot is joined to the leadless leader will take the most impact from a powerful cast.

No Terry, the keith moors knot and the one terry hearn describes in the video (see link in post #10) are different knots.
I have not tried the keith moors knot but i use the terry hearn knot and it is spot on.

Man alive, using these two materials is a bit of a headache.
The ArmaKord that I've got is the uncoated type, with the Solar unleaded being just as super slippery. Tried a few different knots and most just slipped, even that Terry Hearn one. The needle knot where you have to have a tool or splicing needle to pull it back and under and away from the knot holds, as does if you pull the line with a splicing needle through the braid and tie a grinner, that holds.

I've been using the Keith moors knot, not sure whether I had one go yesterday or if I actually got bitten off by a pike (using braid it was impossible to say, there wasn't the little pig tail you'd get with mono if a knot goes), but anyway it got me thinking - with the moors not could you put some extra turns on as you do with a needle knot (less turns for thicker mono, more for thin braid), and if so where would you put them on the bottom loop or on the top where you already do two?.
