Is it junk?

Ive had a 5kg bag of coconut cream years ago but had no joy on it, most recently had a 5kg bag of candy nut, had a couple on the matching pop ups, cant say i really gave either a fair chance tho

Ive been rolling my own for the last 3 yrs but cant be bothered anymore and want something to throw in with a spod mix thats cheap and does the job on a really tricky lake i plan to fish

I was looking at either candy nut or hot tuna

Anyone use any of the range at all?

It's ok to be used in a black widow for hunting. Personally I think it's a terrible bait. Specially on the more tricky lakes you mention. Maybe on a runs lake, but it's not a bait id trust for them
To come back for over and over.

Considering it's always on sale buy 2 get one free it works out at about £5 a kilo, assume 50% margin for the retailer, Nash must be selling it for about £2.50 a kilo and still making a profit. I'd say it's probably not great.

Can't be much worse than some of the baits people buy “direct” at £5-6 per kilo - especially allowing for gashes buying power.....

£6 a kilo should buy you a decent bait if bought in bulk from a decent bait maker.

I have to say although I make my own baits I did extremely well on the coconut cream. This wasn't on a runs water by anymeans and the carp that lived it had been there years. The slightest distturbance on the bank saw them bolting for cover. They were very very wary to say the least but I caught a lot of them on a small coconut cream presented on a semi-stiff hinge rig. Tried other baits but nothing was as good as the cc. I think cc changed for a bit as it used to pure white, then it had little yellow flecks in it (egg food??) and my catch rate changed down a gear.
Has anybody brought a bag recently and know if the little yellow flecks are still in them?

I think it was more a factor of convience for me as I don't have much freezer space so wasy easy to pop into my local takle shop and pick up a bag of shelfies. The coconut cream caught well and continued to do over a couple of seasons. I could well have spent a bit more on a quality bait but it worked for me and the carp were happy to eat it. They were pooping it in the landing net so I knew they were on it well.

Their Monster Crab is good. I add omega 6 to it... cut a piece of the tsblet and then pour it over... Their MC pop ups is also a winner... Gets into the monster grassys... What also works for me is cut the pop ups into small fine pieces and add them into a stick mix. The color and taste if they pass by will grab their attention. it will float to the super layer and leave your stick mix down below... another great dimention to try for fishing...

Another if used that works well in the river systems if noticed is the pineapple crush... have to say I soak it in favouring and it yields results... the color of the bait and the scent is what I believe draws the fish in.... mate of mine uses coconut cream and seemed to get some results on it as well. Hence he adds corn, tigers and all nits and Bob's to the mix he never fished it on its own. So I can't say it's that good as if not seen it as a stand alone bait though.... the other baits in the instant range I can not comment cause if not used them...

Oh and if had the pineapple in the USA... and it caught there for me as well... Hope it can help your quest pal..

Cheers

I tried some of the pink strawberry ones...bought 2x 2 and a half kilo bags and got another 2 and a half kilo free...so had 7 and a half kilo of the stuff as back-up bait for France...caught sod all in France or here....smells nice and my dog thought so too, so I gave her one..she just swallowed it and was asking for another...I just gave her the one....anyway next morning my dog took a s**t on the lawn and there it was!..perched on top of the turd AND still pink and whole!....so if my dogs stomach acid doesn't affect those rock hard marbles then how is a carp gonna digest them!

It's used because it's readily available and the Name. It's a poor high profit bait. As mentioned you can source far better baits.

That's mental. You've gotta wonder how any lake owner would allow a bait like that to go into their water.

A few years ago I bought a load of Tangerine Dream scraps/misshapes and fed 1-3kg per week over the winter. Every single fish I caught or saw caught was passing orange sludge. Well and truly digested.
The Instant Action range is low protein compared with say, Scopex Squid, which makes it ideal feed for the winter.
Now days I feed the scraps on and off all year round and the carp keep on eating it.

Dogs digestive systems are not very quick and they do send a lot of stuff out their arse not properly digested, my old dog **** out a whole dog treat before so it's not that surprising really. Not that I'd ever recommend any shelf life bait, but that's a different debate altogether

Problem with this kind of bait is that 1) it's Nash and 2) it's shelf-life so the bait snobs will immediately turn their noses up......

I used the Coconut Cream on a small Golf Course lake I fished a few years ago, it wasn't a big lake at all, fairly deep at 8 to 10 ft and the carp were very wary, (mainly due to golf balls landing on their heads or golfers falling in the lake as they retrieved balls from the out of bounds slope, which honestly did happen.... )

The CC was awesome on there for some reason and when others couldn't buy a bite i was catching, maybe the ultra bright white colour, sweet flavour or a combination of both I don't know but they used to sh!t it out all over the mat as well so they were eating it....

Another good shelfie if you like a light coloured bait is Quest Baits Magnum White....

To my knowledge I was the first to night fish that place exclusively for the carp. 20-25 years ago it was a match lake but me and a pal had noticed them piling the weight on. We spoke with the guy that ran it at the time and he wrote us out a special night ticket. We had it to ourselves for the first year or 2, it was awesome. We'd fish under the tips, 6 inches off the bank, and 10-20 doubles/20s a night was the norm. Proper hectic fishing.
Obviously the carp guys clocked us eventually and the guy cashed in and sold a bunch of night tickets. Margin bites dried up and all the action moved to the far margin. Very fond memories of that place, I was only a kid really.
I went back for a year maybe 10 years ago when it first went syndi. A fun little water.

It sure was Ian, I haven't fished it for about 5 years now but even though it got a lot harder you could still get the odd big hit, I remember one crazy afternoon in June having 12 up to 28lb plus a Cat in a 7 hour period whilst everyone else blanked.

I understand it has been netted and a lot of silvers removed plus the stunted Carp with bad mouth damage from the bad old days! Heard it has got a lot harder but they go up to about 38 in there now apparently, at least they did when I last spoke to the guy that runs it a couple of years ago.

My main worry with that place now would be predation. It was never fenced and previously the Golf club would not allow it to be along that out of bounds bank anyway, (might have changed?). You have got the KLV lake over the road which has been ottered, (there were some lovely scaly ones in there as well at one point, I'm sure you have probably fished it... ) and there is a little brook that runs from that lake, under the A14 and behind Headlands....although it dries up for most of the year it does fill when the KLV lake gets flood water in from the Slade Brook/Ise...

Yeah the risk of predation is always there mate

The big common currently in there is a corker. I know a couple of chaps that have had it, one of whom is on here. In all my old pics I cant see that one so I dont think I ever had it back in the day. It's only 20 minutes from where I work and I actually considered having a pop for it on work overnighters. Might still look into it once this covid ***** is under control.

The Common is a lovely fish, (I never had it either!) and there's some lovely scaley ones in there as well....

It's not cheap now for what it is, £400 for the year....

Does Greg still run it? I had a nice common of 31lb 5 years ago, I assume that is the one that is now 38?

Still Greg. I've had winter tickets a few times over the years and had a full ticket a couple of years ago when my nipper was born. (It's 5 mins from me) There's 2 big commons both pushing 40lb now.

Nice secure little lake, can be tricky tho, those fish get a lot of angling pressure. Good floater water in summer and zigs do well in the winter.
