Afternoon,

I'm looking for a new bedchair as my current one (Nash scope) is surplus to requirements due to the design and I just fancy a change.

I have heard good things about the Wychwood flat bedchairs but I'm struggling to find one (Standard size) online, could anyone recommend me a new light bedchair please?

I have a trakker rlx super light for a good while now, 6.5kg so nice and light, I have the standard size... No issues, I do use a sim with it for added comfort...nice and sturdy with a firmish mattress

Trakker rlx superlite are good

I use a Solar C-Tech bedchair which is super comfortable but does weigh a bit more than I like. I bought a Solar Undercover bedchair for the wife which is significantly lighter and strangely enough, just as comfortable. Best part of it is that is costs £95 compared to the £300 for the other Solar one I have! I have had other "lightweight" bedchairs over the years such as the Trakker RLX 6 leg, Wychwood Tactical, Fox Flatliter MK2 Compact, etc & none of them have been as comfortable to my spine as the Undercover one is currently. When combined with the Fortis Techlite sleeping bag, the weight is minimal with no comfort spared (never been cold in the Techlite even in the coldest of conditions where the lake has remained liquid.

I have heard good things about the lightweight Avid Benchmark Lite bedchair though but I am not a fan of anything from the parent company Preston Innovations, so avoid anything from them & sister companies (Korum, Avid, etc) - purely because of bad experiences with some of their products in the past. Might be worth taking a look at if you don't mind using their products & fits in your budget available.

I have a JRC Xlite level bed. 6.48kg, nad has been comfortable for me. i due use a SIM on it (mainly due to an old back issue). I'd recommend that too. Worth a look anyway.

Avid benchmark lite ticks all the boxes for me. Hopefully it will last, had it 4months and done quite a few nights

Only bad point is the adjustable leg mechanism doesn't feel that durable

yes same with lots of gear Covid related stock shortages in most things I just had a devil of a job finding a pair of pointed 48" bank sticks they all advertise them then you try to order and everybody seems to have only one in stock ?? got some now after a weeks worth of frustration

I know - very annoying! Read online there's been an additional 25,000 rod licenses sold this year so no wonder we can't find things.. did find the chair but it's on eBay and the company have bad feedback..

Would test them before you buy mate, the wychwood was far to hard for me, but some like a firmer bed

Self inflating mattress that can transform your bed in terms of warmth and comfort provided your not a knob and understand how they work and dont over inflate it

I've been looking for a niew lightweight bedchair - from what I could see the JRC X-lite is the lightest.
I'm probably going to pick one up the winter at some point, the current monster is just too hard work to lug about.

Another thumbs up for the Trakker RLX Superlite.
Very comfy, and errr super light.

The JRC X-Lite is a decent bed and very light.

I've been very impressed with mine.

Coupled with a Techlite compact, and a SIM the whole lot weighs a touch over 10kg.

Is that smaller than standard though?
I tried an old xlite in the past and had to get rid as I kept waking up with my feet off the end and a horrible dead feeling in my feet/ankles. I'll suffer 500g to have a full size bed personally

JW I have two beds a flat six for day trips which is light and I sit sideways on it
It's a bit short if I add a bag as I'm over six feet
The other is a super light the one with rope along the middle section
The flat 6 is not that comfortable , I've done one night on it without a sim
But the super light I think with the aid of the sim is lovely
Tell the truth I have to inflate mine manually lol
It's a venture made by therma rest , costs around fifty quid
The best fifty quid I've spent
I bought a cheap sim of amazon and found it really comfortable but I prefer the
Self inflate option personally

I am 6 foot and 15 stone, and would normally use a nash indulgence wide sleep system for all my fishing, either an overnighter or week long, but it weighs a tonne,

I bought a Wychwood tactical x bedchair compact for the shorter sessions and have to say it is very impressive.

It weighs 6.5 kg and is big enough and very comfortable

Thats my recommendation

Future Fishing in Newark had all the mentioned bedchairs in stock & on display to "try out" when I was over there last (10 days ago). They tend to hold good stocks of most popular bedchairs as well as some of the less popular ones. definitely recommend trying them out before you do buy especially if you can try all the ones interested in together rather than having to go from shop to shop & then forgetting how hard one was compared to another.

As I mentioned in my first post, the Solar Undercover bedchair ticks all the boxes & is the cheapest one as well at £95! I wasn't holding much hope in comfort from it when I saw the price but was pleasantly surprised. As Gerry has mentioned, the self inflating mattresses can be a bonus but I didn't get on with them myself (& no I did not over inflate it), but everyone has different comfort levels so may be different for you like it is for Gerry.

Avid benchmark lite is the comfiest light bed i have tried. The x-lite is to narrow and can feel the bars.

Shane mate, I'm not taking the doo dah, I was wondering about that too, some things we know and some er don't

BTW I had The JRC X-Lite, don't do nights any more but I found it spot on.

I had the old Avid memory foam thing although comfortable , I found it heavy
And the legs a pain , suddenly dropping during the night etc
I've tried out the new one and I agree it's much improved and light
Nice to lay on , **** to sit on
I think sims or their equivalents make any **** lightweight bed hair very comfortable
I've only used mine twice but am totally in love
I hope it's as comfy during hot weather

The trakker rlx superlite is a very good bed, I've had mine a couple years now and it's still like new

Does anyone who has the JRC Xlite level bed find it too low? going by some pics it looks like it a few inches lower than the other light bedchairs, so i was thinking would it be issue or not

cant say ive had any issues with it to be honest. think the dimensions are online. i am out next week and can do some photos if thats helpful (and someone can post them for me! )

I had a JRC X lite level bed and absolutely hated it... one of the most uncomfortable beds I've had and so loud when you rolled over on it. Sold that on after only doing about 4 nights on it and got the Avid Benchmark lite and that is a much better bed IMO.

I've always found my Xlite comfortable (admittedly with a SIM).

Don't think the Avid was available when I was looking, but does look decent - thanks for the heads up. Touch bigger though so not sure my bag will fit (techlite compact)

What bag do you have on it out of interest?

I use an xlite if I'm going light and carrying my gear if not it's the benchmark lite which is miles more comfortable

You can make any tired or cheap or stripped back 'Lite' bedchair more comfy by replacing the elastic and/or fitting the Avid memory foam Bedchair topper.

I use the system, but going to get the Gardner thermal cover as an extra layer now it's getting colder

Two on my syndicate have purchased the Benchmark lite and rate them highly.

Has anyone replaced the bungee for strong cable ties ? I done an old bed of mine and it feels like new again 👍🏻
