I am beyond gutted my computer is knackered lost everything since trying to update to latest windows 10 it bolloxed it properly photos etc all gone and now it wont start even got it back to windows 7 but still its gone need a cheap used one with Windows 10 on anyone upgrading? And got a good used one for sale ?

Sorry to hear that. Are you sure the photos are gone?, you'd need to format the hard drive to do that. If you didn't format then maybe they are still there somewhere, you just can't see them at the moment?

What do you use it for?
It's worth looking at chrome books for basic use, I find it so much simpler and it doesn't need updating/restarting every time I turn the bloody thing on!

Tinhead is right mate. They are very seldom gone. A good pc guy will usually get them back

You could keep everything and just replace the hard drive, get yourself a solid state one as they've come right down in price, then load Windows 10 onto it.
Then at your leisure you can go about retrieving the photos from the old one

It's also worth checking if the pics were auto backed up to onedrive unless you've managed to disable it

Happened to me twice Gerry, after the 1st time I swore I'd back up to a external hard drive, I didn't, 2nd time I learned my lesson :-( I now back up the back up fgs 
I buy refurb pc's now from Ebay, latest 1 is 3 years old, no issues what so ever, think it was £70, quad core too, very fast for my needs if not a bit ott maybe.

well its a Medion and worked out its over 12 years and so Ive bitten the bullet and ordered another one from Aldi this will see me out as in my mid 70s

Even when you format a hard drive most things are still retrievable with certain software.
