Hi all, having just got back into fishing after 10 years off I am looking for a new bedchair system.
I am 6ft and weigh 16 stone. I have narrowed it down to 3, the Nash SS4, the Fox FLATLINER 6 LEG 5 SEASON SLEEP SYSTEM and the Solar SP C-TECH SLEEP SYSTEM. What is the best please, I really can't decide.

Beds are a personal thing mate, you need what suits you best, not someone else. Go and have a look at some. I like the nash, I've got a bad back and I find it very comfortable, others say it ruins you back. The solar gets good feedback, I did have a lie on one and yeah it was good, but no better than my nash one.

I'm in the same boat but looking to spend less than £300. Avid Benchmark Lite Sleep System seems the best reviewed on here

Looked at that but at 6ft I think it may be too small but a great saving on weight is a bonus

I have the ss3, my old one did after a couple of years, but with a bit of paracord through the centre section it was good again and lasted me over 10 years. The new one is now 3 years old and still as firm as the day I bought it so I don't think I'll need to cord it for some time yet

Can only comment on the Nash. Had to go for comfort a couple of years ago. Chose Nash indulgence wide boy ss3 5 season. Been fantastic for me. Winter or summer, roll over, stretch out, warm and comfy. Used a lot, no probs. The downside is that it is heavy, bulky and awkward. I am more than happy to live with that. Swings and roundabouts.

I use the standard but have used my mates wide boy and I hated the wide boy, found it really uncomfortable

The standard SS4 would do me tbf or though I have just seen the MF60 SS3/4 and even more confused now

I'm a similar size to you (6'1"/15 stone) and was looking at all the expensive options based on reviews / tech / comfort reports . . .however I went with the advice of Gerry (OldGeezer) and bought a Wychwood Tactical X (standard) and a lightweight Self Inflating mattress. . .
Best decision ever - comfort level is way above the indulgence ever was and with my Ventec lite bag permanently attached its still half the weight of the mk3. My only poss regret is that its 'large' for a standard sizewise / under my ultralite so maybe should have gone for the compact however no regrets - for the price its a great bit of kit.
Seriously considering selling my France only mk4 Indulgence Wideboy and getting the wide Tactical X . .

I grabbed the Sonik 4 Season Sleep System from Bristol Angling this week. Only set it up in the garden but it seems a good buy for just under £200. It will be getting it's first outing on the bank Friday

The solar system is just their sleeping bag on the bed chair which i wouldnt call a true sleep system. But the bedchair is best i owned. (Owned nash and trakker).
Recently replaced tge sleeping bag on the the solar bedchair recently with fortis techlite bag. Not only it fits prefectly, it improces the the experiance as the solar bag is big, chucnky and heavy. The discounted the bag aa well and only sell it as a sleep system.

I'm confused by this. Have they changed the design? My solar sleep system Is a proper system, multi layered and attaches to the bed top and bottom with Velcro at the sides. The top layer is a thermal lightweight waterproof layer, then the next two layers are the bag itself. Exactly the same as my old nashy sleep system.
I wonder why they are just bundling a sleeping bag with it now???? Seems a bit of a cheek.

Compared to what i owned previously the solar sleep system is just a sleeping bag which has velcro flaps at the side. It even csme with a stuff sack. Even for a 4 season bag its very heavy and mot comfortable this time of year. I rem4mber my nash actaully zipping to thr chair it self? I might be wrong its been a good year years.

You can buy the solar as a system and also just as a bed with a separate bag
I have the same as yourself- the complete system and it is not a bag on top of a bed
The fifth layer is a separate cover that Velcro's to the rest of the system

I bought the solar system standard, about a month ago , theres loads of good comments about on here but i got to say im dissapointed with it, its just so bulky when folded up, im suprised no one has commented on it before, previous to this i had the flatliter and this was half the size when folded.

Having previously owned the SS4 and the Flatliter I have to say the Solar sp system is by far more comfortable especially if your back is not the best like mine, not the lightest but a small sacrifice for a good nights sleep.

Didn't like my sp c tech at all . Far to firm for someone who sleeps on their with no adjustment either . The mk2 flat liner is a comfy as it it gets bed , but at 17kg is just to heavy. The Nash indulgence compact was okay but at 1.9 long was just to short to stretch out on. So I've now got a duralite 3 season . 100mm longer than the Nash 5kg lighter than the 3 season flatliner .

I've had both and I'd say that the Solar packs up better than the s4itty Fox one does with the same sleeping bags on. If you put too much tension on the Fox, because it's made of some super flimsy metal it bends and buckles the frame, not the case with the Solar.
I've now a Trakker sleeping bag on my Solar SP C Tech which folds up dandy.

Not something i ever had a problem with on the newer fox beds. The best pack down bed I had was the indulgence . But with just a 4 season bag on it's not really that deep in the first place.

You can buy slimline, four fold and beds with smaller dimensions and lightweight fittings, materials and bags. They work and they are fine.
But if you want room, comfort and full winter warmth the best systems are bulky, awkward and relatively heavy.
Swings and roundabouts. You have to make a choice and live with it or buy both.

My fishing buddy just took his Fox flatliner back and got a refund due to one of the spring loaded legs not functioning correctly.
He really looks after his gear and the sleep system had only been used about 5 or 6 times from new.
We were on an overnighter last Sunday....his peg was quite uneven so he had to have the leg extended to cope with the slope and it simply would not support his weight...approx 6ft 1ins and 15 stone.
Trouble was the bed was from one shop and the bag was from another so chaos ensued.
Overall pretty crap really.... the Fox system looks pretty good however due to this problem I'd be giving them a swerve

Go where you can try them. I have just got he nash ss3 5 season and love it. Tried and thought I'd want the avid but hated it. The trakker oval one was comfy but I felt overkill and to hot for me.
