Has anyone got any ideas on how to separate a rod which is stuck solid....I've tried ice no joy any ideas would be gratefully received

Is it a spigot or overfit joint, and is it varnished or perdurable finish on the rod? A pair of marigolds can give you a bit more grip. Try not to twist cos you can splinter the carbon... Bit of beeswax on the joint after should stop it happening again.

You need 3 people one on each section pulling , one in the middle where rod joins, rolling the joint in a circular motion , works everytime.

That used to happen quite regularly when i had Century NG rods in hot sunny weather.
So I used to submerge the rod from the tip to about half way down the butt section in the lake margins for a few minutes when i packed up.
Always worked!

This has only ever happened to me with Century rods, and that is why I won't use them again. Bloody pain in the arse to separate when you need to leave for work in the morning, submerge for about 15 mins usually does it.

It definitely works - first read it in the Fishermans handbook series donkeys years ago.
