Hi all,
New to the forum, but not new to carp fishing.
I used to carp fish a several years back but haven't been on the bank in a long time now.
I'm pretty out of touch with all the lakes in the Reading area.
I'm looking for a runs water ideally to ease myself back into it, probably only for days at the moment but I'm open to 24hour sessions.
Just on a day ticket currently so any suggestions of a fairly easy water please let me know.

rdaa has some nice waters in the reading area, it's not a day ticket but you get access to around 10 lakes on the ticket and will probably work out quite a bit cheaper than fishing day tickets. Few of the lakes can be fairly hard, so it's probably worth looking into what lakes offer what you're looking for, but they have some every nice fish.

Theale Island Lake is definitely worth a look. Very well run secure fishery where you book in advanced via the website. Small lake with plenty of fish to go at - have a google - Theale Fisheries!

Agreed. Exceptionally well run group of waters. The day ticket island lake would be ideal if you are starting again.

Thanks for reply's. Think RDAA waters are bit more than I'm looking to tackle again just yet. Will give the island lake a go.

It's a small lake which is relatively shallow, so you'll find them easy enough. Just fish bags etc for a bite at a time. If the weather is good then don't forget floaters.

RDAA waters have some great waters, I'm in a similar situation to yourself. I am back after a 5 year break so have been fishing cottage lane, in hope of blowing off the cobwebs.
Decent head of fish up to a decent size, we most scenarios covered across them.
Great value ticket in my opinion

I'd looked at the cottage lane lakes. See they have linked all 4 of the lakes. How busy do these lakes get ?

Has been fairly busy recently over weekends, but dead during the week. Even during busier periods though you can always find a spot
If your doing a day get there before 6 and your beat most if not all of the daytime people

I've managed to book on for a 24 hour session at the island lake.
Does anyone who's fished it know if it's very weedy at all? And is there many bream/tench in there if I was to use a mix of bait rather than just boilie's?

I fish the syndicate water next to it and walked round last week. Lot of algae in the water currently by the look of it. From what I gather, no real problems with nuisance fish. Bit weedy but nothing horrendous.
My advice... Don't overthink it. Lot of fish in there and an easy water.

Ok thanks. Least there's not huge amounts of weed.

Are you on syndicate 1 or 2? Hoping my ticket comes through next year but not really been able to speak to anyone that fishes there to get some inside info so going in a little blind. Happy for a PM rather than hijacking this thread (getting a bad habit of doing that)

I fished 2 many years back on the cemex ticket and had a few. I did get offered a ticket a while back declined as hadn't been fishing on a long while.

Fished for 24 hours yesterday and managed a 17lb 8oz mirror so pretty happy.
Having spoken to few of the guys that were coming off, they'd all said the fishing had slowed right up so least I managed to pull one out and will be returning soon.
