I did some water shots for a guy on my syndicate this weekend and stupidly left my receiver around my neck and didn't tuck it inside my chesties.....as I was expertly taking some shots my receiver was totally submerged...🤦‍♂️

Anyway, it appears to be ok, there was definitely water inside it but a couple of days in the airing cupboard look to have dried it out.

The only thing I can't remember is if the receiver beeps when you switch a head on....? When I do so the light comes on to indicate the head is paired but there's no beep.....I thought there was but I can't remember...🤷‍♂️

Everything else appears to be working perfectly.

Someone put me straight please😂👍

If you go on the delkim website all of the instructions are on it for setting up , beeps, etc

Looks like I have got away with it then....lucky I suppose but just shows what top alarms they are that they can take a dunking and still work perfectly....👍👍

No tone on mine when switching on just the click of the switch and lights

If you've got time i would place it in some rice for a couple of days just to make sure all water is out

Pretty sure it's all out but not fishing again for another week or so therefore will leave it either in some rice or back in the airing cupboard just to be 100% sure...

Wouldn't salt work for this as they use it for dehumidifiers and things like that?

Salt is most definitely a chemical that should never be allowed near any electrical equipment. It does attract and hold water but it remains damp and chemically attacks all common metals. It can destroy a circuit board in 24 hours. Salt eats gear.

Up in the city the dealers were always spilling coffee and drinks over their dealing boards,
If caught early enough removing the circuit boards washing them under clean fresh water and drying them with a hair drier would often fix them in most cases. Sugary drinks left for a time was not so successful.

With some of the imaginative ways of screwing up that are described on here at times you never know. Laugh out louder.
So how would you or how have you used salt to dry out electrical gear.

Personally, I wouldn't

I would just take it apart and spray it with some spray like WD electrical contact cleaner
However,
I have never taken one of these receivers apart it might actually be sealed already

Salt is highly corrosive to electrical circuits so not a good idea, stuff it in a bag of rice

There's a cop out. If you wouldn't do it why advise someone who has asked for advice to protect his hard earned tackle to do it. There's a word for that.

I did look at taking the back off.

After removing the batteries there are 4 small screws that go into the main body of the receiver, i undid them and it wasn't coming apart so must be sealed, somehow!

The only way that the water got in was through the speaker cone, (I think) and there was a few shadows/condensation on the window for the bivvy light function and the 4 LED towers......they have now all gone so I'm fairly comfortable there's no more in there.

I might have future problems if there is a bit of corrosion but for now it looks OK.

I would bury it in rice till you need it again just to be sure Im sure rice works better than an airing cupboard I had a phone that was in the airing cupboard for a week still would not work
then someone told me about rice 3 days later it was perfect

Most wouldn't take the back off either .
But to put it in the vicinity of a dehumidifier salt container won't do no more damage than dropping it in the water would it ?

I had a leaky roof on my shed that housed my lathes mill and welders etc
I put a couple of those salt container de humidifiers in the shed
It certainly didn't bugger up those items with their electronics in them any further
But it filled up the 2 containers
Those were a lot more valuable than a set of alarms
I certainly couldn't put those into a bag of rice

If you are recommending putting a bite indicator in a room with a dehumidifier to dry it out, feel free. I am happy to leave you to it because it's getting very silly indeed.
