Both have merits, both aren't perfect. I know there relatively new and yes, they are both heavy but this will be for 72hr or more so the weight isn't a huge factor, they both go on the barra.

I really wanted to like the new Pioneer having been a huge fan of the original but bivvy design has come on so much that it is now sadly outdated. The Tempest is the new kid on the block and for me the far better shelter out of the two, lighter, quicker to erect and more user friendly space.
Throw into the mix lots of reported problems with the Pioneer, particularly the 150 and there's no comparison.
Although if it was me i would go for neither and have the Titan T1 instead...

You think the tempest is quicker to erect than the Pioneer ? Do you not have to put poles together on the tempest anymore ?
The problems you've heard about the 150 ? Build quality obviously ?

I have the tempest 100 bivvy and as with all the tempests love it. I actually like the additional vents and also the option to have open at the bottom. Plenty of options as you say with add ons. You can get for very good price from various shops so shop around. I got it for 650 including the skull cap.
2 of my friends have the pioneer 150, one had issue with taped seems coming loose and both have pin holes, I've seen this on a few on Facebook, I am sure they will sort it but something to bear in mind. Based on the 2 I went for the tempest as quick erect, more options and reasonably priced.

I looked at the pioneer yesterday and it is tiny, im 6' 2" and the top of the door is 'about' waist height. Felt fine once you where inside mind.

I know it's a bit of a drive but seeing as you are spending proper money it may be worth it. Browns in Leighton Buzzard had pioneers and tempests set up before the lockdown. They have a fairly large indoor bivvy section with several set. With bedchairs in that you can swap about. And they are now open.
And just to throw a spanner in the works. Have you seen the video on YouTube of the carpology review of the sonic Axs shelters? They look good and very reasonably priced.

Having owned the titan tc Pro I completely agree its a better shelter than both in question. All round quality and design is better, only reason I went back to a tempest is because its easier to out up and take down and the skull cap provides protection from condensation. Titan is definitely better but what I want the tempest is my choice. Good luck though mate as I'm sure you will be happy either way. Personally I think the pioneer is well over prices, has small vents and as spod says needs 4 storm poles to keep up when erected...

The one thing that worrys me is Ive seen what I thought was a Tempest 150 on the bank and it was HUGE, only to be told its actually a Tempest 100. It was cavernous. If that was true, it was a 100, that's far to big. I just don't need that much space.
Im 6.1, use a wideboy bed and 2 small carryalls. That's it. With the HUGE tempest in mind Im swaying to the Pioneer.

Why not the normal tempest? Or the V2 tempest brolly with the infill panel if the the 100 is too big?
Where are you at? Angling direct in Preston have the pioneer and (a nasty) camo tempest set up in the shop.

So now, its the Tempest brolly Advanced VS the Pioneer 100

The Tempest 100 is slightly smaller than the V1 & V2. Poms it must have been a 150 you saw, the 100 is a standard 1 man shelter.

Agreed. Trakker don't seem to be able to come up with the correct size brollies and bivves.
I have the origional V1 brolly. Which is an absolute fantastic brolly apart from the height at the door.
The V2 was even lower and now to rectify that they have brought out the 100T which is a good height at the door but the same height all over making it look a bit ridiculous IMHO.
Should have a bit like the pioneer with a big slopping front to back but not so severe.
I'm not sure who they employ to field test their prototypes. But it should have been me.

Had both, the tempest Ev bivvy, and now the Ev pioneer.....2 bent legs in 1 month on the Tempest made me change it quickly....the left front one, got fed up and ordered the Pioneer.
