Hi thanks to the advice on here I brought a prestige power porter. Its brilliant but i am now looking to upgrade my astravan to one that I can just wheel my barrow into. I don't particularly want a massive transit type van but can anyone recommend a decent mid sized van which can take the electric barrow? Thanks

Yes Berlingo/Partner/Combo vans the barrow fits perfectly, you just need to remove the handles to shut the doors, one point is try and get one with the double passenger seat that folds down into the floor and you can remove a section of the bulkhead, much easier getting the rods in when the barrow is in there.

That looks plenty big enough, have you had any issues with electrics on the berlingo? I like the fact that the seats go down.

I had a Partner (same van) and it was great, only problem I had with it which I didn't even notice till I went to PX it was the air-con pump needed replacing, but I think I may have knackered that driving through a flood
apart from that it was spot on

I've a Fiat Doblo the L1 version and a VW Caddy Maxi. I use the VW for fishing as the extra length saves any messing about think it's about 2.2m load length. The Combo/Doblo are good vans but I'd go for the L2 version for fishing.

Hi I have an old Vauxhall combi. It had the solid bulkhead
I measured where the rods would sit when on the barrow in th e van and then marked it on the bulkhead. Removed the bulkhead and cut the square out plus a bit more out
I then used plastic sleeving for wrapping over the sharp steel edges. The rods stay on the barrow and fit through the cut out x it's not big enough for anyone to get into the back. I also nailed a piece of wood to stop the barrow going to far forward and hitting the windsceeen.
Next I made a ramp out of an old scaffold board and drilled the floor to suit two bolts Which I fitted into the board to stop the ramp moving
Finally I added two rings to the floor to let me put a bungee cord over it all to stop it tipping to one side when going round a corner
I fit the board wheel the barrow into the van, fit the bungee and remove the handles in about a minute
Same when I get to / from the lake
I am using a carp porter big wheel version

Ive got a VW caddy and my mk7 power porter goes straight in with the handles left on just about fits
Had a combo previously and I had to take off the handles to fit
PS buy a motorbike ramp from eBay makes life very simple

Thanks for the replies seems most middle sized vans will do the job. I like the idea of the motorbike ramp so will look at that too.

I have a LWB connect and a motorbike ramp, makes getting the barrow in and out a breeze 😁 (although I have the Nash power barrow)

Cheers mate thats good to know. Am leaning towards a connect as I've heard of turbo issues with the caddys and electric problems with the Peugeots.

I had one for a few weeks after one of my transits got totalled. I hated it. Was glad to give it back. For such a poor drive I was staggered they could charge what they do for them. The transit was better in every respect than the Vito, and I hated the stupid Vito handbrakes

Hi. I have been using an old scaffold board
Used some long bolts drilled through the board and then have these to locate the board and stop it slipping
Lot cheaper than the bike tray and been using it for a few years

Looks spot on thanks. I think a plank would be ok too but the bike ramp may be more useful as it folds.

I have a bike ramp in the back of my Tranny connect it fits across the back doors on the floor
