I've bought a lot of stuff off eBay. You have to start with a price that is the maximum you are prepared to pay and be prepared to walk away and wait for the next one that comes up. Of course a rare item that is no longer available may be the exception to the rule. That's when a bidding war will start if two or more people decide it's something they've just got to have.

I'd say it's to do with the fact that shops have no stock of anything in at the moment....due in the most part to the slow boat from China having not set off yet

still have 3 of the solar stainless possiboss from new, 20yrs ago now. iirc only 501 made of them, been sat on them for years.
10yrs ago they were going for 40 each, wonder what they sell for now

nice, will continue to sit on them, im in no rush to sell them, i never sell anything if im honest.
got an old fox tacklebox full of all solar indicators, the stainless arms, the chains, bobbins with all the stainless tops and bottoms, all the good ball clips.
dont know if anyone remembers these, but when thinking anglers first started out they had this large stick needle, the needle screwed into the body for storage, they got a bit of a cult following as thinking sold em all and wasnt able to get them again or something, i was lucky enough to get one.
well paul selman used to have a small tackle shop attached to his forum and one day as i was browsing this i saw they had these needles a few years since thinking ran out, so i bought the bloody lot! still have them all as well

The Solar Globetrotter pods are going for silly money on EBay. There's one currently with bids already up to £215 & there's 7 days left on the auction. I've got one sat in the garage, it's virtually brand new, I've only ever used it a couple of time's. If I ever need the cash, I know what I'll be selling!

These are going for silly money..... I'd be watching closely and sicking it on- could be nearer £300/350 average at this rate!
Another thing I've noticed is the Weston spools for SS3s or 5000Ts going for £70 each when they come up..... same price as new & they're in stock at Weston.... madness

I had one for many years. Tough as old boots, very versatile but as mentioned the tri post was a flawed design. Pretty much useless if using Delks as they would all go off at once if any sensitivity was used no matter how hard you did the tri post up.
In the end it was the excessive usage costs that put me off. Hiring a team of Sherpa's to carry it just got too expensive

I've not got any fishing gear on there, but I've sold a LOT of stuff on eBay over lockdown - very often at about 3.15 in the morning.... drunk buying anyone?
