Looking to remove my cork handle on my scopes and install new duplon handles. I'm hoping this should be quick simple as the handle can come off from the rear as the blank isn't tapered.
Has anyone done this before? And which type of adhesive would you use on the new handle?

There's probably pro builders on here who'll tell you the right way but I just used a standard slow cure two part epoxy, that way I had time to mess about if they didn't go on ok, which they did.
I also found masking the duplon was beneficial for me as I'm quite messy.

Tom at Cotswold advised me to use gorilla glue for duplon. Impressed with the results on mine

I use gorilla glue on all my cork and duplon, be careful as it expands ,spiral around turning the blank at the same time turn the duplon on dont just push it on straight , have some isopropyl alcohol or some acetone to wipe clean , easy as .

I used a pair of pliers, obviously avoiding the Blank. Just nicking it off bit by bit then sanded the rest.

The wife's hairdryer is your friend when doing this. Gently heat the handle,the epoxy underneath will become soft-ish aiding removal of the cork.

Ideally you want to be replacing the reel seat with a like for like internal diameter.
If not you will have to reduce or build up tape.
It's not hard to do.
A micrometer or vernier calipers will help to get correct diameter (allowing for glue) of the tape.

Thanks mate I'll take a look, I think it will need to come off so I can slide the top section of duplon up

You have to pack every reel seat with tape (use masking tape)they dont come in different diameters its easy but use a two part epoxy on your reel seats, i use u 40 rod bond and have for years never had a problem , I would be surprised if you get the seat off with heat from a hairdryer though , you would,nt get one of mine off ! I use a dremel and angle it down the length of reel seat , start in the middle and do a centimetre then pliers to snap it off , just go slowly , you would be surprised what i have found under reel seats.any probs drop me a pm.

Are you sure the reel seats don't come in different diameters Jeff?
I've got two different sized fuji reel seats sat here now.
Just checked them and one is 18mm internal diameter and the other is 20mm.

Ha ha ,Sorry just read it back !! I meant the reel seats on the scopes are all the same .Of course you are right 16mm fuji is 16mm internal diameter 18mm ,20,22.so on thats why you have to be careful and make sure your reels fit rod before you buy or you will end up buying new reels also as alot have done on here.
