but Pretty Vacant is top 5 punk songs of all time for me. actually, probably top 2 along with Anarchy in the UK

My way was fun but a bit of a novelty song along with Friggin In The Rigin and a few others IMO of course.
It was all relevant at the time, a few classics remain but what was good at the time doesn't always stand the test of time.
Completely irrelevant but while painting the garden shed (how rock n roll is that ) I've had Suck It And See on repeat by The Arctic Monkeys. Now that is good

Sid just epitomised cool before I even knew what cool was. Loved his Eddy Cochran cover too. And Silly Thing from the Swindle movie was also a good song.

Arctic Monkeys do nothing for me.I know it sounds odd after my declared love of the Pistols, but they need to learn how to play..!

Something Else is a great song so great that I reckon with a bit of care anyone can do it well, a sign of a great song
What I like about the Artics is that apart from some great music I like the lyrics which don't always make sense but I enjoy them anyway even though I'm old enough to be their dads.

All great songs.

I saw The Members by accident. I was in the Thomas A Becket Old Kent Road one Tuesday evening 1978/9 expecting to see Joe Brown of all people but he cancelled. Wasn't that bothered as I was only there for something to do and then they announced they had a found a last minute act to fill the slot......The Members. I'd never heard of them at that point, What a treat they were brilliant, shortly afterwards Sound Of The Suburbs came out.

I was in a rock band (of course) in my younger days and we used to play down at the Swan on Fulham Broadway. Our roadie worked the door there sometimes. Anyway, one Saturday night, he called us up and said 'tonights band can't get here cause they're stuck in a broken vehicle on the M1. Get the gear together and get down here and you've got the gig - the place is heaving'

so - we got sorted - did our hair (obvs) - and away we went.

Got there to find that the band who hadn't made it was bloody Bad Manners. Imagine the place, full of Chelsea skinheads expecting Buster Bloodvessel, and 4 long haired northeners with a pink lead guitar and leather pants start up a set of our own material...

scariest 90 minutes of my life.
