Im bored, and wondering about fishing this summer and it occurred to me that i could possibly justify some new rods.
Currently got a set of Acurix in 2.75 which are great, but i could do with something with a bit more power. Used to have the Torrix in 3.25 which again where great, but pretty soft imo. Anyone used the Cerbera in 3.25 and can offer a comparison?

Softer than torrix mate, nice rods though had mine nearly 5 years now

I have 3.25 torrix, although not as stiff as some of the lining line props available now I wouldn't call them soft.

I prefer the cerbera to the torrix, but I wouldn't call either soft

Well....mine felt soft. I don't know why, they just did, bought them brand new too.
I did chat to Steve Harrison over email about it at the time, ill see if i can find the thread.

I guess it's all relative, they're soft compared to my 4-8oz beach casters but not the 2 3/4 20 year old shimanos I use on the majority of weekends

The Torrix feels soft in the tip compared to fast tapered Rods I've used, however I felt the 12.6 TE had a softer tip.

It is all relative , I think 3.25 t.c are way over gunned for the majority of carp fishing in this country.

The heavier rods are useful for bag or method fishing. Not much fun fishing with a prop though.

I have 2.5s and there are fun and a lot lighter but the 3.25 are nice to have fish on. Admittedly I liked 2 3/4 as they allowed for fishing at a decent range where still fun under the rod tips.
As you say it is relative and the op should really go and try them out side by side may even find he doesn't like either and goes for a different blank.

Ive got the torrix 3.25, god only knows why i brought them, absolute planks.
The cerbera or whatever, are a fair bit softer, but didnt appeal to me. The accurix is a lovely blank imo.

They added the 6inches to make the tip softer and better for playing fish close in, without compromising casting ability.
I have a set and was told this off my rod builer and also terry on a tutorial.
Took some getting used to on my part when I first got them after moving from some 2.75lb rods, I did bump a few off close to the net, changed my playing style close in and not had issues since

Agreed, i love my Acurix, feel really light and crisp.
I lent my Torrix's to my brother when i first got them for a French trip and he really struggled also, so-much-so that he abandoned them and used some 3lb shimanos that the fishery owner had.
I did find the email thread from when i contacted Steve and i asked him whether they could be fake and he replied that he had never seen or heard of Harrison rods being faked, so who knows, probably just me.

I had a seg of torrix built by Tony Parker about 10 or so years ago and found them to pokey to be honest switched to the cerbera and found that they were a bit softer under tip which suited me better,gave them to my boy and he absolutely loves them,suppose its horses for courses
