Has anyone had any issues with Some CLOs being too course.
I use BAFs and it's a really nice CLO but very course and sometimes can be a pain as it causes baits to split during rolling ( not split but not fully bind where it's to course )
Was thinking of mixing it 50/50 with another less course Version to see if it tightens the bait up a little more and stops the odd bait being miss rolled.

or stick it in the blender for a quick wizz?
I guess it depends what the rest of your mix is like that it causes it to open up....cant say ive had that issue?

Could do mate as it seems one of the better CLOs about.
The rest is 40% fishmeals
15% milks
10% soya / semo mix
15% CLO
5% sg60
The rest is additives like spices and yeasts.

I have said this a few times on here but the latest versions of of Clo by BAF and Haiths are nothing like the original in texture. The original from Sluis was finally ground. The closest texture wise is the one quality baits sell.

Might have to give it a try 👌🏼

Very true. You may need to grind it down and then sieve the larger bits out first.
All these ‘original recipe' CLO's are nothing like the original texture wise. Way too coarse.
The Sluis CLO in the red packets was finely ground, no messing about. Perfect binding regardless of size of boilie you choose to roll. Straight in the base mix bucket, lid on, shake and away you go.
Some may be close in ingredient make up.... possible, but the texture is too coarse. Maybe that is to make it seem more old skool and Carpy to the younger carpers, that weren't born when it was available still.

It binds well but it just causes issues at time. Might order the quality baits see if that's helps.

Once upon a time Nutrabaits CLO was re bagged Sluis CLO. I believe at the time NB had an exclusive on the Sluis product. Not sure if you can still get the Sluis version, in fact I am not sure if they even make it any more. However, it might be worth trying a kilo of the NB CLO?

Yeah don't mind trying another to be honest Ken. I thought it would have been enough of other binders to not worry about how course it really was.

Try some of the official bird food brands.
It won't be CLO but Sluis still has amazing egg food
There are other brands as well like Orlux, Cede, etc.with a range of products.

going back a few years we always found the clo nutrabaits sold as being to course , we got some from Geoff bowers which was quite fine and made rolling the bait so much better

I've got the quality baits on order, I've got some Ccmoores I haven't tried but there doesn't seem a lot in it really. It's nice a fine so I'm sure it will roll but maybe not as good nutritional wise.
I might up the semo and soya to 10% each to compensate / smooth out the bait and add a little more binders at the same time.

If you are the Alex White I am thinking of then you did quite well on Nutrabaits' stuff IIRC

I use BAF CLO a lot and its a great ingredient, but needs grinding down in the blender. However, Sluis CLO it aint! I used the original CLO a lot in the early 80's. It was fine in texture, pale in colour and had a sweetish smell about it. There is something in CeDe Red that smells similar. Used to use just 10oz CLO and 2oz casein, and it worked well even without flavours.

The ccmoores stuff is not clo at all. You will see what I mean if you buy it! It's the worst version of clo I have ever seen!
Have you tried haiths?

When you google sluis clo than you only hit 'carp' orientated site.
This should be a wake up call for most of you.

The original Clo was different gravy to all the poor imitations available today. It contained the normal seed content with cod liver oil powder, sugar and vegetable protein including spinach. But the main ingredient that made it so different was meat and bone meal a superb enhancer and the reason sluis Clo ceased to be made ( defra interference I believe). Add Clo powder (clop) and chicken liver powder instead.

Yep.
Totally agree all these ‘Original recipe CLO's' are nowhere near, and way too coarse.
Never had to grind down the Sluis CLO, no binding issues.

M & B meal is carcinogenic, I believe. Probably best avoided by huming beans.

I use BAF CLO without problems. It is coarser than the Haith's stuff from years ago, but if you mix it a bit wet and then stick it in a plastic bag for a couple of hours, it stiffens up nicely and rolls fine.

CCM 'CLO' is a lot of breadcrumb and soya mixed with seeds. I agree, it's not the best!
The BAF one is good, excellent binder. Quite a strong taste to it and I only use it in fishmeal/savoury Baits.

What I particularly noticed was that last year when Bread Crumb was short and unavailable. ( there were very few returns to the bakeries ) Baf did not not have any bread crumb ,and guess what they did not have any CLO ,nothing to do with a shortage of bread crumb.
"this product is far, far superior to the poor breadcrumb versions out there doing the rounds,"
My normal supplier of bread crumb could not supply ,so I was looking for bread crumb ,they had also sold out ,having read the above previously, I just thought I would see if they still had CLO and no they did not ,Just a strange coincidence ,I'm sure.
