Good rod pod that won't cost an arm and a leg comfortably do 3 rods with Big pits, what's the recommendations?

Can second the x pod had mine years get the plus model variable in every direction and does not fall apart like most. Should get one about £40 second hand

I have an old Fox Quattro Mk2, I hate pods and only use it when totally necessary but it is a very good one, probably pick one up cheap on eBay

If you have to use a pod I think the x pod is a good shout. Nothing fancy but does the job perfectly.

Still using a 30yr old Solar Sod pod with 3 rod bars & tri-posts with 14000 Ci4's comfortably sat on it no problems.


£220 / 30 = £7.33 per year is bloody good value for money IMHO!

Had a Jag prolite for years.. amazing that it folds down to the size of a pencil case and weighs like a pack of fags lol.
Not cheap but got it in a sale

Fox X Pod plus is great, had one for years. I did get narrower buzz bars for it as the standard ones are pretty wide. As said, probably pick one up for about £45 second hand. I now use the Fox Black Label one as it fits in my rucksack.

I like the look of it too - going to have a look around for one.

I've got an old pod - it's from when I was 8/9 years old my first ever one it's still going strong but going to keep it for my boy when he starts fishing!!

I have an original solar sod pod and love it, packs down and fits in my buzz bar bag. It's one if them items of tackle I saw the grown ups with when I was a kid, but could not afford one then. It's just so well made and I think kind of retro. I did always use bank sticks but putting a pod into position is just so much quieter and less hassle then getting sticks in the ground, so find I use it all the time now. Picked mine up for about £50.

What is your budget

Have had a look at solar not a fan of stainless steel - prefer black if I'm honest. Budget is 100ish but understand buy ***** buy twice

Depends what style of pod you like.I have a pod the wychwood tactical pod was copied from,I don't like buzzbars I prefer being able to adjust the height of my rods individually.If I was looking at the fox range then the quattro always seems to get good reviews

I have the Wychwood slim one, got it last year seems very good, use as singles or goalpost etc then if you need a pod just stick the cross braces on 👍🏻

Cygnet one is good

Had one for 7 years. Still gong strong

Why companies are copying Keith's Trident design now & treating it as a radical new design is beyond me? I had one of the original Tridents back in the mid-early 00's with the open clamp design to hold the banksticks & was one of the best pods I ever had (still kept the Sod Pod for when needed to hike a distance as the Trident was not light at all).

So many copies of it from Century, Custom Angling Solutions, Wychwood, etc. Blatantly ripping Keith's design off. (Off soapbox now)

There are a couple of x pods on eBay now well under your budget. I haven't used mine for a while, but it must be 15+ years old and still strong as ever.

Custom angling solutions worked with century on theirs I believe.I now own a 2 rod version of Keith's and it is simply stunning,I had grub screw fittings and it looks awesome and will last a lifetime

The main reason I suggested the Quattro, although dearer than the x-pod is that I like to have the butt eye far enough behind the alarm to fit my swingers in. The x-pod is shorter although just as capable I'd imagine. My Quattro is a mk1 so at least 20 years old.

Had a sod pod before that and had it pulled over a few times when fishing down the margins. Never used any anchor back in them days so sold it.

Plus if you're the type of angler that moves it's possible to pick up the lot, all 3 rods, including a couple of nets laid on top and walk to another swim.

Although I have a mk1, I'd advise at least a mk2 as they have the oval tubes so can't twist.

The X pod plus has the extending arms so way long enough if you want the first eye behind the alarms, personally never done that, and use swingers.

The X pod plus is rock solid and fully adjustable to get the rods straight on uneven ground.

I like to have stuff as compact and neat as possible - trying to lessen the load aswell seem to take the house with me for a over nighter

My mate had a Quattro a few years ago, I think when you mention it, it is a smaller version of it in principle, someone could confirm.

I'm in 2 minds to get either the a fox X or quattro or just go all out and get something a bit more pricy

If you want something light and compact have a look at a Cygnet Quicklock Pod, super light and folds down to nothing, about 14" long.

Wychwood Tactical Pod does most things I'd want in a cheap pod.

That's why i updates 15 years ago to the WW and it's still the best Pod out there. Sod my sod Pod and lost £50 had that for 10 years so £5 a year. A mate has it now.
