Just become a permit member at Horseshoe, could anyone tell me where the permit holders entrance gate is?
Also is there a parking space in Winter By and how far can you drive round there?
Fished it once before but only summer bay.

If you go onto Horseshoe website it shows you everything you need on the lake map. The members entrance is the one before the roundabout. Hope that helps

You can only drive as far as the end of the road bank, the rest is a walk. If you want to fish the top end of Winter it's sometimes better to go from the car park at the top end of the trout bank, especially with a barrow as it's flatter. From memory I think swims 39 and 40 are about equidistant from both car parks.

Nothing came out while I was there - but Saturday night was very cold. Nothing showing neither.
Zig might have been a good call - but chap in next swim wasn't catching with zigs.

Mind, -3 when got into van this morning Burnham-on-Sea
Weather needs stay like this the fish get use to it and will get back on the feed!
Hopefully if stays warm mid day frozen lakes won t happen!
Fair play tho Tony, then coots swans do your head in for sure !

At least you didn't have 3 swans stomping around outside your bivvy at 3 o'clock in the morning James!
Then the thugs kept bumping into the rods and setting the bloody bite alarms off!!!

I saw a great way to keep swans away over my lake yesterday. Food dye in a squirty bottle mixed with a small amount of hand sanitizer gel to stop it running off their feathers. Swans hate being dirty a couple of squirts of this stuff and they were gone for about 4 hours cleaning/pruning them selves

I think I may have had the same 3 blighters at mine in the rain at 5am this morning- they were the only sounds the alarms made all weekend........

Evening Chaps,
Just got back from my first session as a permit holder, arrived at lake 7am Friday and left at 2 today and typically as I was packing up the heavens opened and there was not one dry bit of me!! Barrow got stuck in mud quite a few times.
Had a great time Swim 54 as there was a lot of water to go at, learnt a lot and worked my arse off for a bite but unfortunately is was blankety blank lol Tough weather conditions and I knew id be lucky to snare one. Only about 10 on all weekend, met mark the bailiff on Friday who was a lovely guy and a younger bailiff on Saturday.
Even in the winter its a beautiful lake and surroundings, so well chuffed with my first trip even without a fish.
Cant wait to get back in the next couple of weeks.
Im home now, all showered and dinner ready so perfect end to a weekend.

There were about 8 of us fishing Friday - Saturday it got a bit busier maybe 12 fishing. 1 guy had 3 out from the Big Double Swim on Winter bay - tale end of last week. Saturday a fish came out on the road bank on Summer Bay. I left 3pm Saturday. Couple of bites/ short runs but blanked. Wind very strong Friday and Saturday.

I was there Thursday to Saturday, intended to Sunday but weather was getting pretty serious.
Very slow at the moment, I was on Boat Point and nothing was showing and spoke to Marl the Baliff Friday and nothing really had been out.
Once we get this weather front out of way I can see the place picking up. Im back at the start of March

Fair play to you fishing in that weather, Dane. I had enough of being blown about the previous weekend. Boat point is a nice swim though a bit muddy at the moment. I'm looking forward to getting back there, subject to weather.

Levels are up a bit more then! Last time I was there, 2 weeks ago - boat point was very close to being awash.
