I currently use 10ft rods, but looking to get a Spod Rod.
Never used a 10ft spod rod before and not too many out there! Liking the look / review of the Tackle Box cfx version....

Have the Tackle box spod rod. Lovely. Just the handle is a little bit on the short side. (I'm using 10ft rods)

I got tacklebox cfx 10foot spod n marker too perfectly fine I don't need to fish iver 100 yards tho tbf most my fishing is under 80 yards for the minute anyway

Hi All...I asked the same sort of thing the other week and eventually went for a TB CF-X 10ft Spod/Marker. Used it last week and very impressed. Had a good chat with Gary in the shop about it and its best paired with a Midi Spomb..large spomb is doable but ONLY with a GENTLE lob! Managed a measured 90 yrds with a loaded Midi, the rod paired with a Sonik Spod reel ( 30lb braid to 50lb leader). For what its worth I compared the original build rod with a new 'Black' build side by side and went for the original...Identical build pattern ie ring spacing/handle length only difference being upgraded reel seat and slightly prettier whipping!! Think its a tenner difference .

cannot understand how the main rod companies like Free Spirit, Fox, Wychwood, Nash etc dont have 10ft Spod/Marker Rods in their ranges now considering how popular the short rod market seems to be.
Guess the DOT Spod is between the large/midi spomb - like the Fox Spomb?

I'm using 3 of the CFX10 foot rods in 2.75 at the moment and I was also thinking about getting the spod rod and another 2.75 for a marker rod. What I was wondering was is it worth getting the spod rod especially as you say that you can only use the mini spod on them as I like to use a FOX large one and I can't see a 3.75 rod lasting long using a large spod, and what reel would you use on the spod rod as you wouldn't want a ‘normal' spod reel as it would not balance well with a 10 foot rod.

I'm using all the time the midi spomb and also the large one. No problem.
The reel I have is Okuma X spod (horrible) but will change sone to the new Shimano spod reel.

Hi. What sort of distance are you hitting with the 2.75's? If it's sub 100 then the CFX 10ft spod would be perfect..Can't see any advantage in using a Fox spod unless it's getting feed out faster..even then it's only few casts more with a midi...as for reels..mine is paired with a Sonik Vader Spod reel and im happy with the way it balances ( I also do a lot of light lure fishing where balance is much more important .so I AM fussy about this)..Ok the reel isn't in the Shimmy/Daiwa league but it does what it's asked to do and that's good enuf for me!!

Andy, at the moment I'm only fishing a 5-6 acre lake so i am fishing under 100 yards, if the cf-x spod rod is good only for midi spots I would be prepared to drop down to a smaller spod.
All the spod reels I have seen or I have had so far are on the large side so I want a smaller reel for the 10foot rods, so I presume the Vader's are smaller than most spod reels and the rods don't feel “butt heavy” when reels are fitted.

I know what you mean about short handles- but I'm short so not too much of an issue .
10ft rods are so much more than a stalker rod these days.
But we all see carp tackle manufacturers flogging trends to death in every angle possible

Hi Yonni... Using 10 footers on my main venue due to the fact its an old clay/marl pit and most of the pegs are dug out of reclaimed bank.This means clearance to the rear is at a premium and I just don't have enough room behind to allow the drop on a 12 foot setup. As a result I was looking for a shorter spod rod to complement my fishing /catching
rods. Not only that but as the swims tend to be a tad tight in general,Once you manage to get a shelter/brolly up with ,with 12 ft rods the butts are continually getting in the way...10's dont! I did weigh up the pros and cons before buying as I dont throw cash at gear for the sake of it..In this instance I felt justified.
However I do agree that there is a trend to go down the shorter route just because its trendy.

Bump, what's your opinions on 10ft spod and marker rods? Iv not long got myself a set of 10ft fishing rods and Iv been playing with the idea of getting matching spod/marker rods.. Only reason really being that they fit in the car easier and can fit in the same rod bag.. I'm not having to fish no more than 100yards max.. I'm thinking 10ft 4.5tc?? Any thoughts / suggestions?

I bought a 10ft spod rod & had 10ft rods when I was fishing a pretty closed & intimate venue. Just couldn't comfortably use a 12ft spod in the swims I wanted to fish without hitting branches above & behind. Using the 10ft and casting on my knees worked a charm.
